atlanta fingerprinting went well
Just for any lurkers out there, getting your fingerprints done in
atlanta at the buford highway office was a snap. Just walked in at 2:30,
no appointment and got them done by 3pm. We're happy, now we just wait
for the EAD and travel docs! God help us.

Re: atlanta fingerprinting went well
My wife's appointment was at 8:00AM. We are there a 7AM. She got the
first number. She was out in 10 mins.
The EAD comes 2 weeks later in the mail.
I didnt apply for her advance parole this time. There is no gurantee
that you can come back even with the advance parole.
We are still in the 2-3 yrs wait for change of status to green card.
Its a long long wait.

Are you serious? Will you elaborate on this. Why wouldn't someone be
able to re-enter? My lawyer made no mention of this.

That is what most people here say.
Are you waiting for your adjustment of status to green card?
If it has expired say like my wife's tourist visa, that was in end of
2002. Even with a advance parole there is no gurantee of coming back.
It say clearly on the back of every form.
True? Anyone?

if you've been out of status i.e. your visa ran out before you filed your immigration documents, then it is advisable to not use advance parole. if you leave the country when you are out of status, your application will be voided - you may not even be allowed back into the country.
i was out of status by about 19 days when i filed - i had no idea that you needed to file aos, etc within 180 days of my visa expiring, so i can't leave the country now until i have a greencard. *tips hat to immigration advocate who gave wrong advice*.
i'm not sure of the situation for other people who were in status - there might be some clause that also says that they have a right to refuse anyone entry, blah blah blah.

My wife file for adjustment 1 month before the tourist visa expire.
Now she is waiting for adjustment and her visa has long been expired.
Even with the advance parole, I dont trust it. Hence she stay here
put until she gets the gc.

Yes

His visa had not expired before we sent the forms for AOS and in fact is
still not expired. He got an extension on his visa but the extension
will expire soon.

Damn this is scary, I'm about to have our first child and if he leaves
and can't come back in (even though we filed AOS before his visa
expired) I will be devastated. I guess I would just go to his country
and live with him until he can come back. This is ridiculous!
