Default Asian Immigrants and Justice System

Asian countries legal systems laws and interpretations are very much
different from Justice System of this country. It takes several years
for these new commers to understand the highly legalized and
complicated justice system of their new countries. These immigrants
were never exposed to these laws and their interpretations. Some of
them happen to know about these laws when they have already broke the
law and it is too late for them. Some of them are killed while doing
something very common in their countries such as crossing a road
(expressway here), knocking someone's door for directions(considered
trespassing and threat to someone's life here). Other day to day laws
like parking, buying, selling and everything else. It would be highly
unjustified for the justice system to treat them as citizens who have
lived and exposed to this system since their birth. It would be very
much unjust to penalize these immigrants for breaking laws when they
have no such knowledge of these laws and when they were not exposed to
this system in the past and when they were not provided any laws
training when they arrived to their new country. We need programs to
educate them to allow them become responsible citizens.

1. Why is this an issue particular for Asian immigrants.

2. Wish I had thought about this when I was done for speeding.

3. As far as education is concerned, I recommend Law and Order, I would think that is shown pretty much everwhere.

Why do you think that Asians are at a greater disadvantage than people from other countries? Are Asians more stupid? Do they have a harder time learning what they should and should not do? Many people, even US citizens, are penalized when they break a law they didn't know existed. Why should Asians get special treatment? Perhaps they should study their new culture *before* they move! That's what a smart person would do.

I agree 100%. All immigrants should have to take a course on the Western legal system and culture prior to being allowed to immigrate. They should have to pass a test too. Noone wants them to unknowingly break the law.

What a great idea!

They only need to know one thing: "Ignorance of the law is no excuse and never will be."
