Applying GCs for parents on visitor visa
Hello:
I had a couple of questions:
1. Is it still possible to apply for GC for parents currently in the
US on a tourist visa?
2. If so, should we wait for some period of time to apply or can we
apply as soon as they arrive?
Thanks,
Raj

Yes, but only if they did not intend to do so at the time of entry in
tourist status. If they have the intention of staying the U.S. permanently,
it is not a proper use of the tourist visa to enter the U.S. To be eligible
to use the tourist visa a person must have temporary intention.

They should wait at least 60 days, so that it's plausible that they had
temporary intention when they entered, but later they changed their minds.
90 days is better.
