Default AOS Vs Consular Processing for Parents Green Card

Hi,

I have a few questions regarding AOS Vs Consular Processing while
filing for Green Card for my parents.
My parents are currently visiting me in US. I was earlier told by
a lawyer that filing for I-485 along with I-130 is a good option.
However I am now being told that filing for immigrant visa while they
are visiting might be questionable. Which is a better option AOS or
Consular Processing ?
Is it ok to just file for their I-130 now while they are in US and
later file for Consular processing after it is approved and after they
leave US.
If I file I-130 and I-485 now simultaneously will it be OK for
them to leave US ? Will they have to come back when they get approved
and if yes how soon after it is approved ?

Thanks in advance.
