Default Any experience with I-601 waiver via INS office in Guayaquil, Ecuador ?

I filed an application for an I-601 waiver for my fiancee in Rio de Janeiro
in early February. The waiver is required due to my fiancee having
overstayed while on a tourist visa. We were told the case would be handled
by the Immigration Service office in Guayaquil in Ecuador, that office
having jurisdiction over cases originating in Brazil. Does anybody have any
exerience with this office in a similar case ? How long should it take ? I
have tried to phone and fax that office recently but have had great
difficulaty getting through. I would like to check on progress occasionally
so the case doesn't just get forgotten in a corner somewhere.
