All aid but help at Embassy!
Some days ago I posted a query about proof of name change documentation, and
my rather unusual circumstances. I later wrote to the US Embassy in London,
having drawn a blank on their £1.30 per min helpline (she helpfully(?) said
"It's up to the immigration officers what they will decide to accept"). I
typed out a fully detailed clearly worded letter asking for guidance on what
documentation is likely to be needed in my own circumstances. I enclosed a
stamped addressed envelope, which came back this morning containing a printed
circular notice of Information on who may qualify for visa etc etc -
information which I already know off by heart from reading on the internet and
message boards. But as far as my specific question is concerned.....zilch!.
They could at least have enclosed a compliment slip with a note saying we
cannot comment !!! Or something!! This is inefficient, discourteous and
insulting.
I worked in the civil service here in the UK for 25 years....if we had dealt
with enquiries in this manner we would have been severely reprimanded !!!!
Oh well....just wanted to let off steam. Guess I'll just have to be creative
