Part 13: Carrick Hill.
Today I took Mrs Stampede and Numpty Bub to Carrick Hill, formerly the home of Sir Edward Hayward and his wife Lady Ursula; both proudly Australian but equally proud of their British heritage. The estate covers 40 hectares (98 acres) and was bequeathed to the state upon Sir Edward's death.

Carrick House (the family residence) was built in the style of a 17th Century English manor and contains many original features which were taken from the demolition sale of a Tudor mansion in Staffordshire. These include doors, staircases, windows and an entire set of Jacobean wood panelling. :eek:

Built in the 1930s and decorated accordingly, the house contains a fine collection of valuable artworks from the 17th to 20th Centuries, including busts by Epstein and life paintings by members of the Flemish school.

The house itself is constructed of Basket Range stone, a popular local choice from the 30s to 70s.

What a fabulous place and I'm impressed with how much green there is about, been led to believe it's brown as down there.

Numpty Bub is just gorgeous, I think I'm in love :wub:
