To OP - what bugs me?

Naff radio - I didn't really like Radio 1 when in England - now compared to the two whole radio options I can receive I'd pay for Radio 1 (I know I did via licence fee!:p)

Bacon that's like ham!

No salt & vinegar Disco's in the shop and I'm too tight to buy imports!





Now sat thinking if there's anything else but honestly I can't think of anything else that bugs me ... gee I'm a bit too happy aren't I!:eek:

[Pom is used a nice term round here]
[I prefer stubbies to pints or quarts etc]
[I drive over 50 kms to anywhere but don't pass anyone as a rule]
[I've finally given up tea for coffee but can't do iced coffee like all fellow South Australian's!]

Anywhere from Stanny to Thirroul is fairly expensive and they sell quick if they are anything like value for money. Some parts of Bulli and Woonona are really good value and worth a look but any closer to the Gong than that and I'd be giving it a miss. The train to Central is 1hr 20mins from Thirroul and the fast train doesnt stop at all stations - so Thirroul or Helensburg if you want to be in work by 8.30am (or drive to Sutherland).

Average no frills 3 bed house with no ocean view seems to go for about 500k in Thirroul - another bedroom or a skimpy sea view will be more like 600k. Good luck - maybe we'll be neighbours soon. :D

I listen to Radio 1 over the net now - Triple J is far too brash for a sensitive english rose like me. :eek:

I dont eat much Pig but I'd kill for a proper bag of Walkers Cheese and Onion. :thumbup:

Errr, plenty of people go back to the UK for a visit etc and whinge about it, mate. Weather and cost etc.

The ''warm beer'' thing annoys me too; standing there having a lager and being asked by some dumb Aussie who has barely been outside Victoria in their entire life whether I am getting used to having cold beer. Stupidity at its worst.

Hate being called a '''pom'' too. I disagree that it is intended affectionately.

Jeeez Guys, I feel sorry for your suffering here. :D

We should try to warn all those people who are applying to migrate just how bad it is down under. ;)

Our local radio was so naff, it had us in stitches most of the time :rofl: have got used to it in the 8 months we've been here, but now............. OxForex sent us a digital/internet radio as a Christmas pressie :) and it picks up zillions of channels and is brilliant been listening to some great stuff, cannot believe it :thumbsup:

May well tune into our local radio though from time to time, the presenters are about 108 and it's sooooooooooo bad it's funny :)

I like everything else, different but it's great - have just put up the Xmas tree which feels really strange but would rather be in t-shirt and thongs than wrapped up in umpteen layers :thumbsup:

Good old Ozforex, my digital radio now enables me to listen to Radio 1, still one of the BEST radio stations in the whole world, even at 47 I love it!!

I listen to UK radio online. Can't stand those nasal, strine voices on Aussie radio talking crap all day long and the endless adverts and repetitive music choices.

Most of the presenters on Aussie radio (or TV for that matter) wouldn't even get a look-in for a job as a presenter in the UK. They wouldn't even get an interview.
