Default Shabee's going home

I write this with very mixed up feelings.
We have decided that we are going home.
We arrived here in Sept after what seemed like an eternity waiting for our visa. 2.5 years to get here infact.
It just is not working out for us and we are biting the bullet and going home.
I have 2 teenage boys and a husband who really hate being here and although I dont want to go back I have to do what is best for my family.
We could go through the palava of moving areas, states etc. but I know in my heart that it is not for them.
Who knows what the future will bring and we have a 5 year visa so anything is possible.
I say all this with a heavy heart.
I really thank all of you who helped us in the past, and I wish those of you over here and those heading over all the best.
Love
Shabee

You have to go with the majority decision so well done. I hope you'll be very happy back home and as long as none of you regret the move, you'll be grand. Nothing to regret really, you will all have learnt a lot about yourselves but the human mind is a funny thing.

Good luck to you all.

Hi Sharon

posted on another thread for you too, but just wanted to say im thinking about you.

i know it must be hard for the boys but things may not be the same when they get back.

what have they found as the bad points? do you think it is anything that they or your OH can come to terms with or do you really think there is no hope.

would have been lovely to see you when we eventualy get out there, but as you say you have to do what is best for you and your boys.

until you are on that plane dont give up hope of staying. they may realise they like it just a bit more than they thought when they are packing their stuff in to boxes.

(((hugs)))

Hi Shabee

Sorry to hear your news?

Was there a problem with Ormeau? Or was the decision family biased/based?

Hi Shabee,
We met you briefly at the Burleigh meet before the rain stopped play, and know we arrived at the same time you did.
Just wanted to wish you luck with your journey back and hope it all works out for you.

Hi, after such a short time and especially as it's included the Christmas period can't have mad it easier but can't you all sit down and agree to give it a go for 12 months or so, then least it's had a shot and everyone may feel more settled.

All the best whatever you decide

Hi Shabee

Good luck and best wishes for the future. It must have been a really tough decision, however you can be proud that you gave it a go and and gained life experience along the way.

Hi there

Well we survived 2 1/2 years in the Illawarra in NSW and are now happily back in the UK. Moneypen is right - you will be better for the experience as we are.

Stick to your guns and your majority decision. I firmly believe the opportunities for your children will be better here and no matter what people say about kids growing up here, crime, chavs, weather and all that is awful my firm view now is that there is so much of the UK that gets overlooked and is truly wonderful - NHS, British Rail, the way councils work, speed of development, the UKs place in the world, 2012 Olympics, the press, etc etc etc.

I wish you all the best - you will be fine. It's not an easy decision to make to emigrate and potentially even harder to decide to return.

You haven't failed - you've done something others can only dream about and in the process you will have learned a great deal about yourself and what makes you happy.

god bless

We have also decided to return to the UK. We have only been in OZ for 3 months and already know its not for us. We have tried our dream and it hasn't worked out . We will return to the UK in October. I love the country but for me I feel it is lacking something and we actually had a better life in the UK. My boys have settled in well and they are not the problem. I plan to return on holidays etc but for us we prefer UK living.

So sorry that it hasnt worked out for you but good on you for going with the majority decision, that must be hard if you are the one that wants to stay. I am sure that the experience will have helped and maybe you can move out of the area that you came from so still get a bit of the sense of adventure rather than heading back for the same old rut.

Good luck with it - I for one am envious and would go home in a heartbeat if the other people in my life would compromise a bit!

Thanks for all the replies.
It was truly a family discission.
We all love the Gold Coast and Ormeau, ( even if we did find Ormeau a bit quiet).
It is just not for my boys.
We have really to make our own entertainment here where back home we were always entertained, if that makes sense.
They miss the hassle and bussle, the constant stream of friends. They even miss getting on a bus on their own and going to the cinema. Here they have to wait for me to drive them everywhere.
Its a shame but none of us regret anything and we are glad we did it.
Like I said before who knows what the future holds.

It's daft isn't it, how little things affect people so much. But when it's wrong, it's wrong, end of.

By the by, my girls find it far easier to get the bus to the cinema here than in the UK. All depends on where you come from and where you move to I guess.
