Hi guys,

We have had a great weekend, Saturday i dropped Kat off at a friends house and they went off wine tasting at the Barrossa Valley, they sampled Jacobs Creek, which they say was lush and then onto some others which they say was good but they also said that they did sample some real crap stuff too that went straight into the spitoons.

I had a day with the lil kids 10 + 4yr olds, we went to Big W and purchased some cheap and nasty fishing rods a lovely pink one for daughter and blue one for lil man, then onto fishmongers for some bait.

We then headed off to Port Noarlunga Jetty for some big fish action, well needless to say we didnt get any big fish action, what we did get was a couple of sand crabs that were hanging on for dear life but didnt quite make it up to the top of the jetty.

Next thing another friend turned up with his kids, in the next breath we turned around and the kids had gone, which left me and Graham stood holding these cheap and nasty 4 ft rods.......but the worst thing was i was holding the nice pink number, which another friend who turned up later said it was very fetching, he said what a pair we looked stood on the jetty with these sexy rods

A little later we packed up fishless and went and bought some fish and chips for us all from what we have to say is the best chippy we have tasted. ( Noarlunga ) then off to the big wooden fort at the bottom of the Seaford Road.............
................we let the kids run riot for a while then we went off to do some koala spotting which we didnt see any, but none the less we had a fantastic time out in the Great Oz outdoors, we did see a nice bird of prey, some Parrots but one of the best sights we did see, was to see was the biggest Pelican i have ever seen coming into land on the Onkaparinga River it was like seeing the A380 all over again.

Kat returned home later that night a lil worse for wear but with some nice cheap vino in hand.

We went out again today Koala hunting which we failed at again !!!!

But we took lil ones fishing again and they loved it but still never caught owt,
i have bought myself a rod so i can go myself, i have been down to jetty, beach and river to speak to some ppl fishing and tell you what the ppl i have met here are the friendliest, nicest bunch of folk i have met always willing to chat and offer advice whenever you need it, thats just not fishing thats in everything that has happened.

Apart from the obvious which has hopefully sorted itself out, we are loving every minute of it here, the ppl the country the views the everything.

long may it continue...........

off the beach to go sort tea/find big kids and i thought i'll just try the agent again -
we got the house in seaford - 1 street from the beach....its beautiful....move in tomorrow!!!

(we didnt stay in a hotel at singapore - was only there for 15 hours so just paid to use the pool - well worth it too, then took freebie bus tour etc to kill time)

if your in Adelaide and see 2 fools with big grins - thats us!
will update again asap.

(loving it so much - cant wait to meet up with a few people too)
Loving your updates. We are heading out to Adelaide and are having difficulty deciding on area! Have a 2 year old, 5 year old and 16 year old and we are really beach people. How are the older children coping with Seaford? My daugther will need to travel to TAFE (probably in Adelaide) and not sure what the commute would be like? Also what about schools and pre-school for the little ones? Are you renting? If so can you recommend a good agent? Sorry to ask so many questions but have so much going through my head at the moment I am sure it will go bang any minute!!

Well, what a week we've had...
All good i might add to..

Ive been thinking long and hard about work - what are my realistic capabilities etc with my leg now, and have reasearched and even looked over some old uni papers that i sadly bought with me and have decided i want to get back into training. I was a training chef in the UK and did extra hospitality training courses at UNI etc, so ive looked into going into lecturing/training again...been told i would need to do my Cert IV, but having spoken to TAFE i have covered all the criteria during my degree, but am going back into TAFE to discuss doing some kind of refresher course and Australianize my quals/experience etc...also looked round and found a couple of jobs that i could easily do without going back to TAFE (whether i'd get them or not is another matter i guess).
Not going to start anything though until my mum has been over (comes in 3 weeks Whoohoo).
So will be either starting TAFE for semester II in July or hopefully getting a job...

KOH's boss has told him he thinks hes great! Didnt mention payrise ...but maybe after 3mths proby period???
KOH has got some fishing gear now so is a happy bunny, hasnt caught owt yet though!

Oldest d has been granted funding to stay in supported housing (we didnt think it would happen due to not being allowed benefits for 2 yrs etc but theyve secured it) so im helping her to move into her into her new place today. We're talking, given her a Woolies card with $$ on for food etc, its ok but its still not great.

Oldest s has been asked to lead PE discussions & sessions (he did PE GCSE in UK) so has happily been putting together a lesson pack for a basket ball session today, warm up exercises to knowledge/training presentation through to game plan...ok some might say the teachers are just sciving but J feels its a great honour and its refreshed his enthusiasm into teaching etc (he wanted to be a primary school/PE teacher in UK), fingers crossed it all goes well today...

Lil d has made loads of mates, on phone most nights and planning meet ups etc for after school, shes also become best mates with an english couples daughter who weve made friends with and the girls get on fantastically...our shipping is due in at the same time so theyre planning on getting their bratz together!!!
Lil man has developed a love for fishing...takes after KOH...im learning though so i can take him on a morning...hes so missing not being in school but we are getting some great quality time together - when i can keep him amused! Also got some baking bits in so we'll be making flapjacks/gingerbread men...coffee at my house anyone???

Weve been for lovely strolls along Moana beach on the evenings to watch the sunsets, visited our local wild Roo family - actually ended up parked next to a police car - was an english copper 'getting his daily fix' of the Roo's...
we drove down to Victor Harbour yesterday - 1st day of winter etc...with our english friends, and it is amazing down there, so beautiful. We walked over the bridge to Granite Island and did the hike round, I stuck to the footpath whilst others went 'offroading' climbing rocks etc. We saw 3 pods of dolphins which was unbelievable, it felt like magic.
Lunch on the island was reasonabley priced, although we got given money back as they forgot to send our order through to the kitchen - dont ask how - as there were 9 of us altogether!
Aside from lunch (and the kids having a camel ride) the day cost us fuel and $4 parking.

Not felt homesick at all, i know its still early days etc, i miss my mum, but havnt shed any tears as yet - maybe im a hard cow -
KOH has had a few moments, when he speaks to his lil boy - but at mo he hasnt been able to get hold of him - not sure what the mothers playing at...

All in all another good week...been here 6 weeks now and feels like months - in a good way!

I am sat at home all packed and ready to go - we leave Saturday night for our London Heathrow to Adelaide journey and thought I would have another quick read of your thread, it gives me hope and fills me with optimism. Thank you.
