9 months in Canberra
And we are just luuuuuvvving it!!!
Spent 2 weeks in Adelaide in Sept/Oct, a weekend in Sydney 3 weeks ago, and loved them both but felt like 'coming home' once back in Canberra.
It is like we have always lived here.
Just everything is so right for us here, wished we had moved here 20+ years ago tbh.
Do we miss Uk/Europe any more? NO!!! Not one tiny weeny bit!
Would we go back- Never.
Holiday? Perhaps.
Would we leave Canberra? Not unless we had too and I hope we never do.
Hubby happy, kids happy, eldest impressed (mind you he has found a bunch of nice ozzie gals to take him to the nightclubs!) LOL
Couldn't believe it when he rang and asked me to collect him next morning!!
I thought "what the hell...."
Can see him not wanting to return to studies in NZ in Feb..
Been too busy to post, so thought better catch up and wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and New year wherever in the world you may be.

Great to see a positive response about Canberra - I reckon it is one of the better places in Aus to live in. I just dont get it when people say there is nothing to do!!!
Glad that you have found your feet here and are now real Canberrans!!!

Hey Budawang, I think you must know me well, 'easy to get around'...LOL
it sure is. My eldest is over from NZ, he cannot believe how I am getting around places with ease, not once getting lost but find myself getting lost in the shopping malls quite easily!
Yes I have no sense of direction, never had, but this place is just so simple to get around.
I LOVE it here Quoll, Budawang, in fact my hubby says it at least 60 times a week how much he adores Canberra.
I think we are finally grounded here.
Yesterday I was chatting to an old guy delivering free papers. He was telling me how he had lived in many of Aussies cities, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth (think he has tried them all tbh) and he feels Canberra is the best by far to live.
I have never lived anywhere else in OZ, just visited but Canberra does feel so much like 'home'...LOVE IT!!
As for the people here, so friendly, so many people comment about how friendly the people are in Canberra and can only agree.
Have a great Xmas and New Year

Budawang, blame the rain on my eldest, he has my curse, he has brought it from NZ I think!!
Keep telling him to go back, he is laughing at the amount of rain we are getting!
Don't worry, he goes back soon after Xmas, we will get sunshine and more sunshine then.

Heavens, no! Dont tell him to go back if he is the rain man. He can stay until the dams are 100% then he can go back!

So glad you have found your place in the world. We too are really happy in Brissy. I can't believe how fast the time has flown, i have been here 1yr yesterday and we have all managed to settle and I have completed the 1st yr of my nursing degree with top marks. We are building a house next yr, looking forward to putting down some serious roots.

There's more to do in Canberra than any other Oz city. National events of one kind or another every weekend and of course all the national attractions. We are still finding stuff after 32 years (CSIRO Discovery Center) the latest. Best farmers market in Oz as well!

There's actually a beach on Lake Burley Griffin at Weston Park. It even has sand (if my memory is correct).

Re: 9 months in Canberra
Getting a bit crowded with all the refugees from Sydney, Melbourne, Qld and thesedays Adelaide but there are major road works under way which will help. Canberra gets the second highest daily sunshine of all capital cities bar Perth but a bit more rain would be good like it used to. I'm old enough to remember Lake George flooding and blocking the road to Sydney, been a long time since that happened.
