scottishcelts why don't you want your kids to grow up Aussies? They don't forget their heritage you know! My eldest was 3 when we came, now 46, and recently said, in his Aussie accent, to me that people didn't believe he was Scots! My youngest, born here, can speak in the broadest of Scots accents, you'd think he just got off the plane!
Hey Gibbo, i don't know, it's hard to explain, but my kids forgetting their heritage does play an enormous part in it. I had thought of all these things before i came here but in reality i can't get it out of my head, i don't want them to loose their accents either!

Oh i'm really weird that way, it's nothing personal against Oz or aussies , just me! If i got pregnant here (i won't lol 3 is enough) then i would have to go home because i would want the baby born in Scotland just like my other 3.

I know i'm not making much sense but in my own warped mind it makes sense to me!

First few months at Woomera were hard but we quickly assimilated into that wonderful place and our lives blossomed. Competitive swimming, Badminton, table tennis, soccer, australian rules were just some of the wonders of our new home. Going out to the range to see rockets launch was another. We all changed from pale English roses to tougfh Aussie 'mates'. Still discovering the wonders of this amazing country and it's people. Just wish my parents were alive so I could thank them, and let them see my amazing daughter. Proud to be English, but Aussie to the core!
