I am not 100% certain about Turkey, but the general (and universal, for countries I am familiar with - US, Canada, Australia, NZ, EU) is that pensions are taxed where you live. The only common exception is pensions resulting from government services - civil servant, military, police, etc., are taxed by the country where you worked.

OK, well the UK does not tax pensions if you're not living in the UK, except as noted previously. ^ So if you know for a fact that Turkey doesn't tax your pension, then you have your answer.

Same here in Philippines. holders of resident visas do not pay local tax on remitted pensions.
UK government pensions are taxed in the UK so for example my wife has a teachers pension and a partial State pension. These are both classed as Government pensions and tax is taken off in UK.
I, on the other hand have a State pension and two smallish private pensions. due to the double taxation treaty between UK and here( which EXCLUDES Government pensions), I get these paid gross but my State Pension is over the tax free allowance so I have to do a self assessment annually and pay what is owing..
If turkey does not tax pensions you need to check if there is a double taxation treaty in place otherwise HMRC will take the requisite tax. Usually to get private pensions paid gross you have to show HMRC that you are tax resident in your country, even if they don't tax pensions.
I think the only country you can get Government pension paid gross is the USA as HMRC share info withe IRS!
If you need more info please send me a PM.

You only pay tax on a government pension in the US (its paid gross in the UK) if you are, or become, a US citizen.

Under most tax treaties (including UK / Philippines and UK / Turkey), the pensions where the paying state has the tax rights are those in respect of previous employment in government / public service.

The UK State Pension is in the other pensions category, and should be taxed only by the state of residence. They can, of course, waive their right to tax that income.

You do need to do the admin to make sure that tax is paid in the correct country.

Hi,
I have a holiday home in Turkey and what I often hear from Turkish people who worked in the Netherlands, that their Dutch pension (not from public service) is tax free in Turkey. On top of that, there is a social treaty between Turkey and the Netherlands and for only a few euros withheld on their Dutch pension, they have medical cover in Turkey as soon as they become resident.

Because it is not our goal to become resident in Turkey at the moment, I did not check this. For you it is easy to go to a tax advisor in Turkey and ask if this is the case.
