Vacancies in Regina (sshhh don't tell the mods)
I would like to report on a meeting I had today with a major supermarket chain who have recently opened a new distribution centre in Regina SK.
They are looking to recruit 24 British drivers initially through the PNP immigration system, although if all goes to plan there will be a lot more vacancies soon.Shifts are to suit, within reason,eg 4+4,5+3.
The money is ok but not brilliant, however, anyone currently looking to bail out of the UK and doesn't relish the thought of longhaul trucking could do a lot worse.
Would like to put contact details on here but it appears that the mods will have a hissy fit, helpful as always,so pm me if you are interested.

Be nice if you could explain why the change of heart (without insults this time )
I mean you were telling everyone to avoid this job like the plague two days ago , Or did the Geordie win you round ?

I thought about the not brilliant money and the easy PR that this job is promising. But if you were to go to somebody like Billy Bison who has expensive immigration agents; wouldn't the better pay make them equally attractive? The bigger outlay would soon be re-cooped.
I won't write too much, thread might disappear and I'd be wasting my time.
Let's see what happens this time.

Charming. You are more than welcome to post details, as long as you don't put somebody else's personal info on a public forum (i.e. their email address or tel number). A job advert or website is fine, as are general details, not sure why you think they wouldn't be?

LGV Class 1 Drivers Required in Saskatchewan Canada
Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) is Canada's largest food retailer and a leading provider of drugstore, general merchandise and financial products and services. Through our portfolio of store formats, we are committed to providing Canadians with a wide, growing and successful range of products and services to meet their everyday household demands. We are known for the quality, innovation and value of our food offering. We offer Canada's strongest control label program, including the unique President's Choice, no name and Joe Fresh brands. In addition, we provide customers with President's Choice Financial services and offer the PC points loyalty program.
Every day, over 136,000 full-time and part-time Loblaw employees serve customers in more than 1,000 corporate and franchised stores from coast to coast. This makes us one of Canada’s largest private-sector employers. We are committed to being socially responsible by respecting the environment, sourcing with integrity, making a positive difference in our community, reflecting our nation’s diversity and being a great place to work.
Supply Chain and Distribution is a key part of Loblaw's business and is made up of four divisions: Distribution, Transport, Replenishment and Flow Supply Chain. These divisions ensure that the products our customers want are readily available, on our shelves and well stocked for the future. Your contributions are vital to our success, and Loblaw stores across Canada will rely on you every day to move and track our products.
Transport manages inbound and outbound deliveries around the world. The team uses many modes of transport – land, sea and rail – to get our product into the distribution network and out to over 1,000 stores across the country. Loblaw leverages a team of corporate Drivers and partners with third-party carriers to get the product to the customer on time and in good condition.
Our newest DC in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada has several opportunities for LGV 1 drivers, operating new equipment within our Canadian prairie provinces. We are offering first class training and orientation, excellent remuneration and the required amount of community support to start your new life in Canada. We are not looking for long haul drivers that will be away from their families for extended trips. Most drivers are home every day and others spend at most, 1 or 2 nights away from their families. If you have held a LGV Class 1 license for at least three years, have no more than 6 penalty points on your license, and have no criminal convictions, Loblaw could be your gateway to a new and exciting life here in Canada.
The decision to immigrate is a big one, and we believe that with Loblaw, you will find an opportunity that will suit your lifestyle and career objectives.
Right here, right now, we are building a culture of success and pride that recognizes and rewards our colleagues. Being recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, Top Employers for Young People and Greenest Employers is an indication of the hard work that is making a difference every day. All we need to continue our success is you.
We're looking for colleagues who have a real passion for transport and customer service.
Be yourself here.

Re: Vacancies in Regina (sshhh don't tell the mods)
The company should be paying flights for the employee under PNP regs, but that's where their responsibilities end, check with the company.
If anybody is seriously interested they should source somewhere to rent then do the sums.If the wife/partner also works it could be a quick route into Canada,if the driver is the main bread winner it might not be realistic for some, horses for courses etc.
Do the research/homework before getting too carried away with the dream.

What way does it work with your hgv licence coming from the uk?
Is it recognised when you swap over the licence? Or do you have to do any tests?

Re: Vacancies in Regina (sshhh don't tell the mods)
I've seen this company mentioned on other trucking forums. I must admit it sounds tempting. I haven't been on her for quite a few years but glad to see some names I remember.
Simon and I are now looking to move out to Canada within the next 12 months. Should have done it years ago when we first had the chance. If anyone could give me a few company names (I know a few but it's been 5 years since I was on the ball) I would be grateful.
Cheers x x x
