Once he heard that they were moving to Germany for a year until my mate left the army he immediately went to a lawyer to stop it. It seems that if he is the father then you must get his permission first or prove that you have no contact with the real father or you are not permitted to import the child (I know import isnt the right way in putting it, but I couldnt think of any thing else:rofl:)
I have read threads on the main forum reference this so there are people who have done it and jumped through all the hoops. Id suggest you ask on the main Canadian forum that is where you will get the experienced advice much better than my rants and the one armed swiss army knife welding bandits guessing!
Anything else then I am sure there are guys and gals on here to help
Good luck

Warte mein liebe goldschatz, ich spreche von erfahrung, meine kinder sind noch in CH,so ich muss beweissen das ich allimente noch zahlen...

My case is the complete opposite, i have to proove to Can immigration that i,m not neglegting my duties to my 3 kids in Switzerland,,, so i aint guessing, and thats why i broached the subject to floj in the first instance:p:p

OK
But I do not have any experience of this. Iam sure that your experience will be considerably different from someone taking a child out of the UK where a father will have access and does he pay maintenance in the UK? will he have to pay it in Canada, all of these and much more would be better coming from someone who has been through the legal hoops etc!

Thanks for all your help boys

Think I better post on the main forum, have had a look already and it looks like I can get a notarised letter of consent from ex regarding our son.....he better agree or you will hear my mouth from where you guys are!!!

Christ, I better get going on all this stuff that needs sorting or it will be 2020 by the time we get over! ;)

Just read something about this on the main forum...think you have to show Canadian authorities that you are still paying maintenance for any kids in another country.

Reference the Army postings. One letter to the RMP will cover places like Bosnia, Kosovo etc I had the address for the german one somewhere, however Davie Mac gave me the info, I suggest that you PM Davie Mac and he will forward it to you.
Dont panic, it is better to find out now! and you can get the info and get the ball rolling before it is to late, rather than turning up at the Airport with the wrong information likely to result in you being refused entry!

Thanks Dinger...I will Pm Davie now. So to reiterate...He would only have to get a local police check from places he actually was stationed at? i.e. Germany & Cyprus. The other places he went to were when he was either in barracks in the UK or in Germany.

Hi all

Anyone know what options could be open to OH as he is not registered with a GP. I read somewhere that he has to have a drug test or a letter from his GP saying there is no history of drug use but he never registered with a doc when he left the Army in 2001. His medical docs are still with the MOD.

Any advice please?

Thanks

the drugs test will be done in canada as its not common here.

As for the medical, dont bother wait till in canada, it has to be done here for the claas1 test anyway, But if you really wanna get it done, any doc can do it without medical records, they only look at what is in front of them. Costs is anything from £20 ( i paid my doc that 2 weeks ago) to £70.00. Do a google search there are loads of surgeries doing them.

BUT ITS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!! Wiat til you get job offer and get then done there.....

Not always so with the medical! Some insist on getting a medical before arrival to ensure there are no obvious surprises then when you are past as fit they can pay for your flight, offer a job, start paperwork etc. It is common sense that the company are spending time and money on you so they want to cover the bases first!
Some even insist in you taking a UK Cat C medical before you go!
This will obviously need to be seen and assessed by Canadian Medics for insurance and medical cover etc

Yup I had to have a medical (D4) before I was invited out for a research trip.

if that sthe case just download the D4 medical form from the DVLA site and pop along to any doc job done

Like I say I had it done in last 2 weeks but all companies I have spoken since said its not a prob if not done. So if caution is required, download, Adob required, print etc

Re: OH hasn't got a Doc!!

If your still serving in the army you can request the military doc to carry out the medical as your final medical (they should arrange a chest x ray if you ask) And they can arrange a Drugs and Alcohol test as well
Back to the question re OH police checks - YES your last post is correct!

Ahhhh do you mean I have to get permission from ex to take our son to Canada?

Sut mae nice to meet you. Just remember that Canada classes all children as dependents until they are 22 years old. You have to include all children yours, his and joint on all application forms whether they are joining you or not. You must supply medicals for kids over 18 and letters from the other parent that they know you are coming to Canada and they give permission for you to take them out of the country (if moving permanently with you). If you do not aknowledge the kids and add them on the forms they will not be able to gain residency in Canada in the future. There is a link somewhere and when I find it I'll send it to you.
