OH hasn't got a Doc!!
#1
Hi all
Anyone know what options could be open to OH as he is not registered with a GP. I read somewhere that he has to have a drug test or a letter from his GP saying there is no history of drug use but he never registered with a doc when he left the Army in 2001. His medical docs are still with the MOD.
Any advice please?
Thanks

As soon as he registers with the local doc they will request his medical records from the MOD it can take a few weeks. The quicker he registers then the quicker he can get what he needs done!
Where has he been posted, if abroad he will need to get a police check for that country and I would suggest he also gets one from the RMPs as well to cover any operational time

He has been posted to a few countries....Germany, Iraq, Bosnia, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Kosovo, Croatia, Saudi Arabia....think there is a couple more but I can't remember at the mo. He doesn't have to get a police check from all of them does he? Will a police check from the Military Police cover it?
Thanks for your help

If the OH was on operations (that means that he was under British Military Law) then he will require to get in touch with the RMP's for all the tours, and one will cover all his career in the army. If however he was posted, such as 2 yrs normal posting in Germany then he needs to get one from the German Police, if he has been in the UK and posted to Ireland or Scotland he will also need one from those police forces as England police only account for England and Wales!
Dont panic! They are fairly quick (so I am told) but the RMP are a bit lethargic (never answered my request very promptly) but you and the OH know that an irate call up the chain of command rectifies this rapidly!

I think I understand it (OH is working so he isn't here)...I know that when he went to Kosovo, Croatia, Bosnia and Albania, he was living in MQ's in Germany at the time and he was in MQ's in Cyprus too. Will have to check on the rest of the overseas ones but he hasn't been to Ireland or Scotland with the Army so at least that is something!!

You know when you wish you hadn't posted a question

Dinger.....any idea of a number or contact details for the RMP? If so, PM please, thanks.

Just had a friend who has brought his wife and kids over from Canada and they had to go to court to get authority to bring the kids over!
However this is only short term (a year or so) and from Canada to Germany, I would assume it will be very similar going UK to Canada
Get down to a lawyer with the questions you need answered, is it still first hour free?

The son you have from EX. so if i were you i,d check, regarding immigration... does father have visiting rights, (even if he hasnt seen the boy for umpteen years) you are theoreticly removing those rights by emmigrating

(please please let Gremmie be joking about again!!
)My ex does see our son...although it isn't set in stone (no court order etc) as ex is in the Navy and isn't always about. I'll go and have a search on what I need to do. I have already mentioned it to him so he does know our plans....He has a girlfriend from Brazil now so I was hoping he sods off there which will make it easier for me.

I am not fully aware of the details but what I can gather was that the real father lived locally and saw the kids as and when he wanted/suited himself. As for visitation he was permitted every second weekend.
Once he heard that they were moving to Germany for a year until my mate left the army he immediately went to a lawyer to stop it. It seems that if he is the father then you must get his permission first or prove that you have no contact with the real father or you are not permitted to import the child (I know import isnt the right way in putting it, but I couldnt think of any thing else
)
I have read threads on the main forum reference this so there are people who have done it and jumped through all the hoops. Id suggest you ask on the main Canadian forum that is where you will get the experienced advice much better than my rants and the one armed swiss army knife welding bandits guessing!
Anything else then I am sure there are guys and gals on here to help
Good luck
