need some hope
Does anyone know if the sponsorship deals for truckers getting into Australia are still on hold or even if they will open this route again.Maybe we will be in demand again and put back on the list.Is it true this was removed not that long ago? I have looked at so many other avenues to get there and always fall short.I lived there as a child and tried to get back on that visa but you had to have 9 years,i have just over 8.Then looked at previous trade of mechanic but would need to go back into that game for a year, but would then be close to the age cut off.So i'm back to praying

As far as I'm aware mate virtually totaly absoluto No Chance.
There was rumours that when the MODL was reviewd this year trucking would be recognised as a skilled worker....but due to what I have been told by the ATA is that there has been sucha back lash from the trucker in NSW area they have forced it to go to parliament to vote on it and even then if it does go thru they will only be accepting a max of 100 drivers on a trial basis.
The NSW unions are pretty strong and have been kicking up a storm about bringing in what they call:
"Low skilled drivers with no experience and putting lives at risk on the Australian roads"
What a joke...have you seen the roads and all they do is drive in a straight line for about 68.000 miles
IF you goto New Zealand and use that as back door into OZ it could be a way in but I think you have to stay in NZ for at least 2 years or more I'm sure someone will jump down my throat in a milli second to correct me as is the way on this site.

Not jumping down your throat Davie Mac...yes coming to NZ is a back door way into Oz...but you have to get PR over here which you can't do as a trucker have to go for it on another skill then after getting PR it takes 5 years to get Citizenship which you need to be able to go and work and live in Oz...so as a long term plan it's good...alternatively just come and live in NZ it's fab!
