Hi didster 7

Apparently it will helps to have one just incase so if I get asked i will show paper aprt of license first if they ask for more then I have it just incase.
Going out on recce in Jan, have mailed 10 companies around Letheridge, will call next weel to see if I can setup up some Interviews.

Kingswaydriver

From what I have learned, and its not a lot, is mail teh cv with cover letter, then follow up with a call to the relevant recruiter. Tell them you are flying over and looking to see if they will interview. Make sure they know and deal in the PNp scheme, if they dont it will take them months to sort out the relevant paperwork.

This is information I have gathered from reading every thread on here and even being cheeky enough to mail a couple of people that have already made the big step. If you mail me, via here I will send you the Txt from a couple of mails I rec. They are full of very insightful info.

I aint done it yet but if god likes a trier then maybe he will smile on me lol

That does seem to be the best way, esp as H&R have an agent to sort you out once you land, new license etc.

I have been toying with the idea for a couple of months but events here, ie lack of work and any half decent jobs!! So missed the inetrviews they conducted over here. Looking to book flights for mid to late Jan, once i have at least one interview setup I will confirm flights then I will just cold call anyone in the Letheridge book.

Hopefully get an interview with H&R but they are not advertising anywhere except their own website so who knows finger crossed and a fiar breeze etc

I have 15 years in the game but not done any continental work for over 10. And british winters just aint like they used to be.

Whats the size of the fleet 1400 or so units?, not a bad turnover seen as bad in a few firms over here. If the pay is relative to the cost of living one does have to wonder why Canadians dont want the jobs, aprt from the anti social side of it?? not that i am complaining!!!

if you convert the weekly pay into hours worked you can earn nearly as much per hour working at mcdonalds. but hey i am not going out there to make millions, i am going out there for the experience and better lifestyle, so far had a s--t life in uk so it can`t be any worse. (things can only get better)

Forget the hours worked, its irrelevant, my view is I will get paid to see 2 countries that I could never afford to do from here. If I worried about the hours I would work for the local ASDA rdc, less than 3 miles from my house..

One thing I did learn thou and really got my interest was that a lot of single driver live in the cabs, unless back at home depot. If back at home depot the company has discounted rates at a local hotel. One hell of lot cheaper than renting an apartment and only being there for 6 nights a month!!!

And the company lets them use depot address for banks, etc

So even thou millions aint achievable, a year of living like that and a deposit for a nice appartment/house should be achievable.

that is exactly what i am doing.
i was also told at interview when at depot you can still stay in truck, if they need truck for any reason i.e. service or repairs, that they would pay for the hotel. on the other hand i will reset my hours anywhere in canada or usa, park the truck in a secure place and go sight seeing.

have you got your crimminal record check yet ? if not here is a link, it is £35 but only takes 10 days to come back, the cheaper one could take up to 40 days.

Found the link this am.

Top idea, based in AB, but cruising the continent, an extension of my plan but I may just have to nick it for myself.

it will be worth getting another one at a later date because the more you can show them will take the doubt out of their mind whether you are eligble or not, plus shows you have researched and are serious.

get in quick, the copyright does not come into effect untill next year. lol
