Right, it's not about feeling guilty anyway, nobody can change the past. However, the vast majority of white people today recognise that slavery was wrong, that segregation was wrong and that racism is wrong. While the situation for black people, particularly in America, is far from perfect, I think it's fair to say that going down the road of more segregation (like in this example with the hair) isn't really the way to go about fixing it either.

I thought "check your privilege" was about acknowledging that you have certain advantages outside of your control so you shouldn't assume everyone has it equal to you. I seem to have avoided all the uproar about/from social justice warriors, I have no idea where it was being publicised since I didn't see it on the news or internet in anywhere near the quantities that people made it out to be. South Park was pretty much the only place I ever saw it, apart from the odd Facebook comment.

It's not as passive as that because people who do acknowledge that that happens never use that phrase.

When that phrase is used, it's a way of holding those intangibles against someone. Being white is the new crime. Being white while having a penis and identifying as the gender of your birth (even if you're gay by the way) is the worst thing someone can do. And yes, the SJW 'movement' isn't much more than a meme right now, but is this really the kind of society we want to be fostering anyway? Nobody is ever going to achieve actual real equality when people are being demonised simply because of what vagina they fell out of and where they did it.

We've got the same shit happening here at the moment because one of the Sydney Unis has decided that Cook landing here and liking the place has to be called invasion rather than settled. Then some rubbish morning tv show discussed it with the pre invited guests and some tart who claims to be Aboriginal decided to call everyone white ***** for not having an Aboriginal discussing it as well.
