Seems like it's mostly not as bad as predicted...although it looks pretty bad further north. Several years ago the NYC Met area was caught out with a snow storm...the mayor got a lot of flak for it. Since then they have tended to over estimate the storms.
That said, I'm sure a republican politician will cite it as evidence that global warming is a hoax. |

Our 2 year old decided 8.45pm would be the perfect time to projectile vomit over 2 piles newly folded laundry, our bed and over the missus. Cue yours truly having to yomp to local package store a few blocks away to get $10 of quarters. Forced into buying a PBR six pack, partly to dull the pain of spending next several hours doing laundry!
This reminds me that my kids would always come down ill during dire weather like this.... So to the nightmare of being unable to get out to the doctor & pharmacy for antibiotics to cure the ear, sinus, or bronchial infection, add the hell of having a miserable small person in increasing pain underfoot and only non-prescription remedies to give the poor tyke until the weather abates.... I thank the universe that my kids are all grown up now, and at the moment I don't even have a dog needing to go out into the blowing maelstrom for exercise & other essential needs. |
Re: Winter storm Juno
Both our cars are near enough completely buried. Was out snowblowing earlier. The only thing I could see of my blower was the chute!

Meh..
Hyped beyond belief here. Maybe 18 inches max (drifts higher). Nothing we don't see every single winter at least once. http://yaypics.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-tR9wTdp-M.jpg http://yaypics.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-p5zx9CP-M.jpg |
Re: Winter storm Juno
It's been snowing about 12 hours and we have 10-12" of snow so far. Another 12 hours or so to go I think they're saying...
It is very light, and there are very few power outages so far according to the CMP website. If you wear everything you possess and go out and wade through the snow it's surprisingly lovely. The dog doesn't think so though. |
Re: Winter storm Juno
Mine loves romping in the snow. He does not like high winds. So how cold is it?

Re: Winter storm Juno
It sounds relatively grim on Nantucket and parts of Cape Cod. And the Pilgrim nuclear power plant was shut down safely, according to plan. Any news from nuclear plants elsewhere in the areas hit by the storm?

Re: Winter storm Juno
23F here (-5 C)... Still snowing merrily, but the wind has calmed down a tad & doesn't sound like a freight train any more.
We've been doing LOT of shoveling..... |

Reckon we've got about 24" with drifts up to car roof height - Proper weather :p |

Yep - my pup's only 11 weeks and I think it's the wind that's frightening him more than anything. He's going to have to get used to snow if he's going to stay in Maine.
