New Google Chrome box at $35 sounds pretty good too.

Yes saw that on the news last night. But Sky Sports is more appealing. I am wondering if using it with something like Smart DNS might work. Might be worth an investment of £10 to find out.

Does no subscription equate to no charges?

Here we go, somethng on pricing.
Pricing has been set at £9.99 per day for all six Sky Sports channels and subscription to the movies channel is being offered on a 30 day free trial for new customers, followed by a one month introductory price of £8.99, which then rises to £15 per month.

Chrome box is so limited that it is almost useless. You're better off with a Roku.

I think you can get a sky sports day pass over t'internet on a VPN as it stands - I know people who were watching the Lions tests that way.

10 pounds per day though, not per month. That's a lotta money

I can pull up iPlayer on Chrome on my laptop and then throw it to my TV and watch it there with the Chromecast. Then I can get on with doing other stuff on the laptop or shut it down altogether. Worth it for that alone.

Apparently, this box is a re-branded Roku 2XD. Thought it looked familiar.

As the iPlayer works on IP, it'll be no different to trying to watch on a computer - so unless you have a proxy, forget it.
Oh, and the Chromeview device is $35 with three months of Netflix streaming included, so the net cost is $11. More is expected to be added in the future, so an $11 investment is well worth it if you don't have any other streaming methods.

The Netflix deal ended yesterday though... Which was a bit of a joke.
