So be careful if you're planning on buying one from any websites that are not based in the US...

I think we're going to take ours back to the UK over christmas and get it chipped there, as apparenlty its much easier to do in the UK.
its technically illegal in any country but if you can get someone to do it for you it might be OK. The 2 issues you have is that the games are region coded (like DVDs) and that if your TV doesnt take a PAL signal then it will be black and white at best. If you are that bothered you can get signal converters.

Hi,
We've tried everything, different cables, a converter bought off ebay, different TVS, but all you get is a very annoying flickering screen.

We only bought it a few months before we moved out, so its very annoying! Same things happened to the play station 2. In the end we bought another PS2, but could't quite afford another wii

Haha yes I made yours, a couple times - but bread machines are nice too...

I have a bread machine recipe for Italian Herb bread - Keira said it was similar to UK bread - I'll add it to the recipe thread .

digital ones would cost as much as a new system though, and you'd need one because an analogue one wouldn't be much use on a decent tele...

Beware! My husband was going to get ours chipped until he found out by doing so when the Wii downloaded any updates it would no longer work! I would seriously look into it before chipping it! I know loads of people in the UK who are desperate for a Wii so i dont think you'd have any problems selling it there and then you could use the cash to buy one in the USA maybe. Ill speak to my husband and try find out more about what happens when you chip and and post up my findings

I bought one off eBay used back in October for $200.00. Best Buys sells used ones through Best Buy Outlet and 2ndturn on eBay.

The ones through 2ndturn might have parts missing, but as long as you have the main box everything else can be replaced.

The game I like is called Marble Mania

PS: I couldn't see anything posted on the Gamestop website about them issuing 'rain checks' for the Wii consoles. Perhaps it's being kept as quiet as possible - so I guess there is a good chance that one could get a rain check tomorrow or Friday.....
Just preordered and got the rain check from Gamestop, guaranteed for January there were only 4 left. So he's getting an empty box for Christmas.

I liked the Amex gimmick this Christmas of putting up popular products at a cut-rate price -- only catch was there were about 100 available of each so actually winning the right to purchase was like... winning the lottery.

Still, it was fun to compete. I didn't see any Wiis but there were other toys.
