There's a thread running at the moment on the Canada forum, it's been done before but someone's started yet another, about what you wish you had brought......so my question for those returning, or hoping to return, to the UK.......what will you take back from wherever you are?

My dogs. Books. CDs. Knick-knacks. Clothes. Not much else. I'll just replace most stuff when I get back.

Same for me, no big items. Sent a load of stuff to mum's last week, I think 4 boxes containing knick-knacks, etc. One more to send but that's it. I did get a bit upset that I have to leave 2 dolphin pictures behind that my family had bought for me when they visited last year, though. They were light-up ones, and they were very big and heavy. They were over the Post Office size allowance I couldn't afford to send them another way.

OK, deffo my dog. She is my baby. I have had nothing else to lavish my maternal instincts on over here and I adore her. See my avatar

If all works out, as little as possible. We are thinking only personal items such as pictures, documents, and very dear to heart items. Other than that, we are trying to budger for new wardrobes as well so we don't have to take any clothes. For 300 pounds or so, my wife can get basic/decent/starter clothing at Primark :-)
Oh, my PC and our laptops will go with us
Can't live without them. If we have to, we will take our kids with us as well, he he. (They are only 3 and 5).

i will take back my kids and OH (if he's lucky!) my dog and all the furniture we bought out here. Apart from material stuff I guess the best thing I'm taking home is a settled soul. It has taken a long journey to find it, but I'm hanging on with both hands now!!!

If I do go back I will take my pride in tact that I have given it a real go but it just didn't work out.
Oh, yeah wife, kids and our cat as well.

When my OH left Heathrow airport 17 years ago he was given a can of Carlsberg beer at the airport. So I figure it will come back with him - unopened too, and extremely undrinkable too I imagine!

We're planning to go back to the UK, hopefully later this year, and my OH has a collection of tools and gizmos he won't part with. They've been brought here, taken back, and brought here again....each time with additions! He has a petrol weed whacker which will go back, but I think the tractor mower and snow blower might be a tad under-used. As for me, it'll be my books, laptop and old kitchen stuff...don't laugh, but I'm very attached to a particular wooden spoon and small sharp knife. Oh, and a frog my daughter made me when she was about 4 years old.

We came with very little, just personal possessions and TOYS.
Taking back everything that isnt electrical; due to the financial losses, we wont be able to buy them again, so much more than we came with - just hope we can rent somewhere that includes storage, it just isnt going to fit any any three bed semi!!!

Our 4 cats, we are waiting for the 6 months to be up (after their blood tests) before we can return, only 5 months to go
Personal possessions and some furniture but looking forward to buying new when we get back (hubby doesn't know yet
) Also taking back the memories of our experience living in another country and a smattering of Spanish - learnt enough to get by.
Oh and lots of cheap booze
