Re: What was the biggest culture shock when you moved to the USA?
I have had it pointed to me (on facebook) numerous times by my british counterparts that I shoud not complain about the price petrol because I pay about a quarter of the cost of the price per gallon of what is paid in the UK... my usual reply 'yes I do but I have to drive my kids to school because busing is not provided like it was when I lived in the UK ( I used to drive my girls 3 miles each way but we moved house and I now drive them double that). I also have 36 trip commute rouund trip for work and my husband has a 10 mile round trip for his job... so I may pay a quarter of the cost... but mile for mile I far exceed that of most of my british counterparts.

I hate the other kind more. Don't know what the model name is. Wrangler, I think. Those ones are driven by backwards hat wearing, Monster-drinking douchebags. The Cherokees tend to be driven by soccer moms up in the 'burbs, and I just hate all SUVs on principle anyway.
Also, the bigger the lift, the smaller the penis.

I live somewhere where having high ground clearance, big softish balloon tyres and lotsa horses matters, and i dont give a sh*t about air suspension either, its just another toy to go wrong, and make the owners appendage have variable length, something he should have been born with. Hard ars* cars minimise processors, variable anything and toys generally. What they have is bigness, big bearings, big tyres/wheels, big suspension and big power...

I would buy a Landy, but support for Landies seems limited here, also they're expensive and I think built in India.

Here its a south african built toyota hilux ot a thai isuzu d-max, americans cant buy either, they have to buy mexican toyotas which rust or fords which explode their gearboxes after 20k miles of real offroading. Gm trucks do survive but only some of them and not the arty super duper dodge jobs.
Landrovers are indeed junk now, one can buy a paris dakar bowler rebuild thats decent but horribly expensive.

I recenrly read an interview with mr tata who said he will move most things to india or china as its much cheaper, but walking before running is quoted which makes sense. However they have been laying off lots of uk workers....

That is correct.
That is not correct.
