We have a wegmans down the road (no British aisle though! ). There are plans for them to extend though so maybe Devon custard is in my future!

Are the prices reasonable or highly inflated like the English shops?

Higher than the American equivalent, if there is such a thing, but generally cheaper than the English Shops.

Congratulations, Weggies is my favourite supermarket (I may have mentioned this before). You'll soon be addicted to the place.

We had a World Cup party yesterday and I bought a tray of their subs and select sandwiches which are delicious. They weren't as popular at the party as my home made cheese and onion pies, Biryani, Trifles and Victoria Sandwich. I bought all the ingredients from Wegmans including their own ready made pastry. My daughter also prefers Wegmans' own brand cereal to Kelloggs etc.

We didn't buy the alcohol from Wegmans' Beer/Wine section. We went to Joe Canals and my husband bought a six pack of beer from as many of the countries that are playing in the World Cup as he could find.

A Super Stop n Shop opened a couple of miles away and I thought I'd give it a go. It's not as good as Wegmans but they do sell Maltesers, Bounty, Rich Tea, Chocolate Digestives, Salad Cream and almost the full range of Sharwoods Indian products.

Wegmans fricking rocks, its the best food store in the country.
Once dropped over $200 on gorgeous food and cookware and it was worth every penny.
I cherish you Wegmans!

Noticed today that work had begun clearing a large area of land in East Hanover, maybe that's where Wegmans will be. Woo Hoo fingers crossed.

Yes there were rumours that Wegmans was hoping to open up there but the locals protested (the idiots had clearly never set foot in a Wegmans).

I truly hope they will definitely open there. Just a few blocks from my house is the old Saks Fifth Avenue dept store but closed when they moved to the Short Hills mall.....it was purchased by Royal Dutch Ahold approx 11 years ago to turn it into a Super Stop & Shop, but part of the land is in Springfield and part of it is in Short Hills.

Both councils have turned down all planning applications due to traffic concerns, objections from King's and ShopRite (and snobbishness I suppose...a supermarket lowers the tone of the area? ) and rather than collect tax revenue the site has been empty for many years.

What a pity Wegmans won't open there, but they need a huge plot of land.....on the other hand Trader Joe's needs a smaller plot.

I've just looked at the http://www.wegmans.com website...

no mention of East Hanover, but new stores opening in Turnersville NJ (wherever that is?) and Cherry Hill, nr. Camden/Philadelphia.

Someone who posts on this site lives in Cherry Hill I think?
