Re: The Wedding of Harry & Meghan
One of my brothers dated a girl for five years, and then married her. The marriage lasted two years. They both remarried, and have been married for approx 45 years. People make mistakes. Three of the Queen's children have been divorced, plus her sister. When I was a small child we watched Princess Margaret's wedding on TV. Who knew that he had his best friend's wife six months pregnant at that time, after a threesome! Charles was having an affair with another woman whilst he was on his honeymoon. Sarah Ferguson running around topless. Kate with her naked bum revealed by helicopter wind. Sunbathing topless in a chateau, where there were loads of staff on hand, including gardeners, pool boys, butlers - who would do that? I seriously doubt that Meghan is any different than any of them.

According to this article, his income is $2,700 in Social Security and $1,500 in an occupational pension, per month. That adds up to a pretty reasonable annual income, probably close to, or higher than, the US average for retired people.

Third bankruptcy and up to his eyeballs in debt, doesn't sound too well off to me. But maybe he's a spendthrift so that's why she doesn't help him. Even if his income is $50,000, how much of it goes to creditors? And also, he's from California, so the US average isn't really relevant. Maybe some Mexicans will kidnap him and hold him for ransom.

This is probably the wrong place to post, but I can't help wondering about the immigration implications. Presumably Royalty can be exempt from the usual rules. What rules would ordinary Meghan have to follow to be allowed to live in UK with ordinary Harry? And thus which rules are waived for the Fairy-tale..

Friend went through the regular process, took him less than a month and he said he could have got it done quicker so not an issue.

A non-EU spouse wishing to live in the UK with their UK citizen spouse has to apply for a settlement visa. There are financial, accommodation and character requirements.
Financial requirements can be met through income or savings - I suspect the royal couple used the latter.
The non-EU spouse needs to apply for 3 visas, the initial entry clearance, then further leave to remain, then indefinite leave to remain. That takes 5 years. After the 5 years they can apply for citizenship.
At the current fees, the entire process including the health surcharge is around £10,000.

What if they would like to bring Meghan’s mother over to live with/near them at some point? What options might they have for that?
