Just wondering ....at work we always have very different accounts for the weather ...some use the net, some the tv and others the newspaper .....

from our own backyard, hubby is an amateur spotter for the local weather service and has a weather station set up in the garden, several local businesses ski/golf resorts etc use his data. Apart from that noaa.

AHA! thanks Paul...just been looking at the link....much better info,looks much more up to date....and found the photos,saved lots for painting!
I have got the 'personal alert' weather thing from WMBD news but I'm not very impressed,it seems to be hours behind,same with the weather channel!

My Mom has two weather radios-one that goes off at the drop of a hat which she finally shut off, and the other that is more localized. She's 50 miles north of Panama City, FL.

My DH says I am obsessed with the weather-that's rich coming from a Brit!! Anyway, I do pay attention but it comes naturally-my Dad had wind measuring devices on top of the chimney and other assorted paraphenalia and he was always tapping on the barometer. He also had a treasure trove of weather sayings-winds out of the south-rain coming-wind out of the west-a drying wind etc.

I put my finger out of the window. If it is wet I know it is raining. From this you may gather I am not too impressed with the local weather stations. However we do have a weather alert alarm which has proved to be pretty good.

They all lie - our local weather thingy has said storms for the past 3 days - ive been sunning myself at the pool everyday!!!

Dont get me all excited for a god storm and just lie to me!!!

We use NOAA too. We have a weather radio that has SAME so we only get alerted when the threat is our county... the old one was a pain the arse constantly going off.

My hubbies job can often be weather depended so he uses the Weather Channel to check to the radars too.

Got to admit I was never this weather obsessed in England.

The wunderground link we use has local weather station in town, they are about 3 minutes walk from here .....funny thing is they seem to have totally different weather to us ....it will say cloudy/overcast .....out the door it will be raining cats and bloody dogs

The photo's are great ....my wife can spend hours on there browsing ....often asking where the various locations are ( she American and gets lost if she goes more than 50 miles in any direction ). Her laptop backgrounds are often pictures she saved from wunderground......some girl in Croatia posts some of the best scenic pic's I've ever seen (you just know there's a bawdy/saucy joke there somewhere)

I have "weather.com" installed on my computer. You can customize it for you zip code -- it will have a little thingie on the desktop with your local temperature and if there is some warning in effect, it turns from blue to yellow.
