Our house has been on the market for 2 months now. We had 4 home opens to start with, then we've left it as view by appointment only. After having absolutely no viewers at all in the last month we thought we'd have another home open today. We spend all morning cleaning, polishing etc, go out for the hour, get back and there's a message from the agent "4 groups through, loved the house but out of their price range!" So WHY do they come in eh? Just to have a sticky beak? Look at the decor for decorating ideas? Case the joint? I give up.........stupid people.:curse: We've had this on every home open we've had, it's not just today. We actually saw a couple come in and they had the real estate papers in their hand so they knew the piggin' price!
Now getting brassed off with worrying about the house not selling so I think we'll drop the price a bit a see what happens then. Mind you, I don't know how dropping 30K is going to suddenly shift it into somebody's price range
Wish we'd sold the poxy thing last year when people were falling over themselves to buy houses.

Probably for a couple of reasons. If they are on the fringe of your price they be seeing what a stretch goal would get them for their money. Could be their first weekend looking and they are taking some pricing temps. I'd be doing the same, (but then I'm a professional negotiator
) taking my time, kicking some tyres. Its a buyers market, and the astute buyer will be in no hurry to part with their hard earned in this housing climate.Could be the first in a couple of visits they intend to make before making a reduced offer. Everyone wants a deal and that'll be no different when you buy your next one.
Short answer:
They're piggin' idiots

Keep smiling. Mine sold on a day I left a dirty nappy on the sofa ready to take out to the bin on the way out! Can you believe the real estate agent actually left it there!!! haha

You get some complete B*STARDS as well.
We had a much loved parrot, which sadly used to pull her feathers. Not from poor diet, not from boredom, but because she was a manipulative little tart who would do it to get attention if she had to be shut in her cage.
She got into the habit of it and sadly we could do nothing to stop her.
Any way. One of the viewers grassed us to the RSPCA who sent round a storm trooper who while we were out, basically pushed his way into the house past my daughter and proceeded to accuse us of starving/malnourishing the bird and make all sorts of accusations and threats.
I tried to contact the guy over the phone to explain, but he neither botheres to return my calls or come back.
We also got a load of stickybeaks wanting to poke their noses into every inch of our stuff.
Keep your chin up and grit your teeth. Sadly it's just something you have to put up with.

Some of my neighbours in MI actually admitted that if it was a quiet Sunday then they would go around the open houses for decorating tips and to have a nose. We had an elderly couple come around and the feed back was that they liked the location but it was far too big for them......did they not read the sq. ft in the advert ????!!!!
Luckily we've been able to move and leave our house empty, which brings it's own set of problems.....house prices in MI have lowered by about 20%...fingers crossed that the house sells soon though..I hate living in rented accomodation where you can put anything on the walls etc.
Sorry...babbled on a bit.

Chin up Tracey! I know how you feel we were in the same position, could have sold the house last year for 600,000 got 530,000 in the end we dropped 30K, but at the end of the day you just gotta think to yourself it will get you home.
Keep going girl your house is lovely, it will happen just hang on in there....
Sending you karma..

I don't like home opens, i think it's a very strange way to do things. I much prefer to show people round myself on a private visit. Sold 2 houses in first week back in UK, built up a friendly understanding of the people who bought my old house...and we are still friends with them. I just think trailing through an home open is not enough. Its like when you buy a car...you build on the confidence, get friendly with the buyer, make the deal easier.
It's just the way the market is at the mo...will it change??? how long do we wait

Thanks chaps
Ever get those feelings where you think everything is just too damn complicated and frustrating and it would be easier to just make do with what you've got? Been having these feelings over the weekend, it's so complicated going home; OH hasn't got a clue now what he's going to do work wise, I can only teach on temporary contracts, we'll be taking back a lot less money than we hoped which means we'll be living in a pigeon box, we keep looking for rentals in the villages where the schools can take both kids and there are no bloody rentals, it just seems like things are not exactly falling into place like I was hoping they would do.
Oh, and top all this off with a husband who still doesn't really want to go back, therefore the prospects of all of the above does not make him a happy clappy chappy to live with at the moment.
