Verizon Edge?

Anyone else on this or the AT&T equivalent? I keep reading its a con, but I'm not so sure. Looking to upgrade to the 64gb iphone 6 plus. At the moment, it'll cost me 399 + 35 upgrade fee then my plan of 160 a month which includes my wife's line where we share 10gb of data.
If I upgrade with Edge, there is no upfront cost on the phone, 35 is added per month to my bill, but we get a discount of 25 a month on our plan meaning the phone costs me just 10 a month. The only downside I see is that when I upgrade the 6 plus, I have to trade it in to verizon rather than sell it on eBay, which I'm fine with. Anyone any experience on this plan they'd like to share?

I just did this - I called to to try and negotiate a little after i reached the end of a 2 year term. They suggested the edge. The figure I got over the phone on the day was very different to the figure I received when I tried to activate the 2nd of two iphones they sent me..about $60 a month different.
Be very careful - get the pricing they offer in writing before you commit. Also look it up a little online - Verizon reps are developing a reputation for being economical with the truth especially with the edge program.
Ended up having a bit of showdown at the local Verizon store but the chumps in there had obviously seen it all before and were none too helpful. In the end I went to Sprint who were offering a better deal.
Good luck and be ready to dial 611 from your Verizon phone plenty of times..
Oh and then they tried to charge me nearly $400 in 'early termination fees' and another hour on the phone with customer 'service' sorting that one out.
Just google Verizon lied edge program..
