It's when they call it a OMV, that it throws you

As I recall that's why the NY and NJ tests are considered more difficult, perhaps they do it in the DC and Mass. tests as well. The California test is considered more difficult because, *gasp* wait for it...

...they make you drive on a public road!

No driving around the parking lot in first gear for you.

I think I've mentioned this before but the main problem I had with my Florida test was that the examiner weighed about 300 pounds and given my car had standard transmission, that caused me difficulty in reaching the gear stick because her thighs were so fat (gasp, I took it in a car with standard transmission!!!)

However seeing as I got into second gear for about 10 seconds, not that big of an issue.

The most worrying parts were (a) being in a line with hot sweaty people and (b) leaving the test centre and realizing all those people were now allowed to drive on public roads after driving around the parking lot.

In Alberta it's an AOL - Alberta Operator's Licence, so occasionally you'll come across an application form that asks for your: "AOL number".

That sounds very sophisticated compared to Florida.

As I recall in Georgia they did make me drive zig zag around some cones but I can't even remember the rest of it, it was so easy. I remember filling in the form to take the test more clearly and the multiple choice questions.
