The UKs response if the situation were reversed would be identical. There would be nothing the US could do about it either.

Exactly. If he was going to name a UK citizen then why name an Egyptian and claim he was British?

The parents are a pair of chavs they have gone there to create a media circus and try and secure a media deal to sell their story.

And there are people that the UK has not given up like Gary McKinnon for instance.

And if they were a par of chavs a certain wesley snipes movie might have become real life, 5 seconds is all you need, lets leave it at that on a public forum, and trump would be finished right now if that had happened.

Update to this. The CPS has put in an extradition request for the driver. The US, does not seem to think it warrants an extradition.

Things could get interesting, again.

It will be over before it's even begun. She has no intention of ever returning to the UK voluntarily, and the US will outright refuse to sanction the extradition request, meaning that nothing will be achieved.

Sad to say, I think the chances of this person being extradited are essentially zero.

But the Government will say, well we did get her charged, but conveniently forget they let her leave the country and didn't tell the parents of the dead boy for 7 days after the accident.

Presumably her and her husband were flown out of a US air base. Would the UK government even have known until informed by the US that she had gone?

They "let her leave" because, as she had diplomatic immunity, the law didn't allow the UK government to prevent her from leaving.

Even if they had known (doubtful), it wouldn't have changed the outcome.

But I wonder how it would work if she were to holiday in another country. Would the extradition follow her?
