Privates
New drama set in the 60's about the last patch of blokes going in for national service.
Sounded a little hokey in format, but could be interesting and amusing.

Finally got around to watching Parade's End. The first episode was beautifully shot but I found it impossible to work out what was going on. Just seemed like a confused shambling mess so I didn't persevere with it. Shame because it sounded so good on paper.

Re: UK TV Programs
Death in Paradise is back for a second series...cracking little cheesy cop drama set in the Bahamas, Brit cop ends up out there and tries to deal with the local laid back attitude to police work.

For those in the US what do you use to watch British telly? I need ideas other than expatshield and also needs to be compatible with Windows 8. Expatshield is not compatible with Windows 8. I am dumping cable and going to use Roku box and do Netflix etc. Thank you.

But if you search, there are plenty of options, either using a paid VPN, or just downloading the shows from torrent sites.

Re: UK TV Programs
I downloaded expatshield on 3 computers (all new) and it caused an error as I reported in another forum - got "bad pool caller". the common denominator was expatshield..

Expat shield is free adware, so you can not complain too much if it doesn't like your system. I dumped it after a very short use, as it was intrusive.
VPNs are cheap enough for what the average expat gets from it, and it is just a setting, no software to install, your operating system will include it. For most people it will just be an address, a username and password.
I use Vyper VPN from Golden Frog, but at $10.00 a month there are cheaper options. A quick "VPN" search on this site, will bring up lots of recommendations.

Well this was actually pretty good, little cheesy mind, but worth a punt. Seems it's one of those 5 part series played throughout the week.

Whoever it was that mentioned TVChaos, thanks!
Has a lot more stuff classed as 'free' including game shows and the HD version of EastEnders!
It's nice to have an alternative.
