Tuesday's the day

The dogs and I fly out at 4pm on Continental, arrive in the UK approx 8am on Wednesday. Absolutely panicked right now. No way in hell I'll get everything done that I want to get done. I'm still packing for gawd's sake! Had a garage sale, but have a ton of stuff left. A few trips to United Way resale shop in order. At least the dogs are all set, as far as I can tell. Just got to get them to the vet tomorrow morning for deflea/wormer. Had a bit of a scare as I hadn't received the health certificate back from USDA by Friday, but it arrived yesterday. Am renting a microchip scanner because the one that my dogs have isn't readable by UK scanners. Who'dathunk about that, then.
Take a breath.
I did manage to get a job! Production editor with Taylor and Francis in Didcot. Now looking for a place to live that will take the dogs. I decided to put them in a boarding kennel for a couple of days while I size up the situation. May have to ask family members to take them for a bit as properties are VERY dog unfriendly so far. I'm going to look at Reading as there's good train service to Didcot.
Anyway, I best get back to it. Just thought I'd let you know how it's going.

Glad to hear it's all coming together for you I know what a mad rush the last few days are before you leave, you'll look back in awhile and be amazed how you did it.

Fab news about the job Sarah. Best of luck with it all!
I am sur a house will turn up somehow. Try looking for private rentals instead of agents. They are often more negotiable especially if they can see you are a decent sort of person.

OOOOh, Sarah! That is so exciting. Good luck with everything, and please check back in after and let us know how the trip went. I know we'd all love to know

Microchip scanner ~ I need to take one too, as my chips aren't acceptable over there either. Just out of curiosity, what chip do you have in your dogs? My cats have Avid, but not the Universal one.

My dogs have HomeAgain. Which reminds me, I have to update their information on the web site . . .

Thanksl. I've seen some places listed by Finders Keepers and have several properties from a variety of agents shortlisted. I think when I get there I'm going to go straight to the real estate agents and talk to them, see what they've got.

I've taken a look at the online version of a couple of local newspapers, but I'm sure once I'm there I'll find other sources. Even a local notice board might have something . . .
I'm not too depressed about it. Worst case scenario I'll see if I can find a (cheapish) pet friendly B&B for a few nights!
