Default Trenton to Mystic, Connecticut...

Me and my fiancee are going for a road trip to Mystic, connecticut for a random little get away. I think its about 4 hours to get there.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of some great little stops on the way? Anything thats worthy of stretching the legs?

Equally if you know anything interesting about Mystic (Besides it's Pizza) info would be great.

Thanks

I'm originally from CT and visited Mystic a few times, but I was a kid and I don't remember much except thinking it was cool.

I am also planning a trip there in the fall of this year, I'd love to hear where you end up staying and how you like it.

Where are you driving in from?

The Aquarium is supposed to be pretty decent if you've got kids, but haven't been myself.

Rt 1 is a nice scenic drive on the sea and not much longer than I-95.

I-684 and 691 are quite nice drives if you're coming in land from the west.

Old Saybrook was a cute town for a bite to eat that's not far.

So not worth the visit, unless there's a particular show on that you're interested in....it's a bit shit compared to the other casino.

When do you plan to go? The seaport (which I presume is why you are visiting Mystic) is closed until the middle of February.

If you are interested in Native American history, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum is excellent.

And if you are serious about the pizza, swing by New Haven and check out the best: either Sally's or Pepe's.

Foxwoods. It's a much nicer resort place.

Is that Trenton - NJ ? I think the real question should be what are you doing living in Trenton

Thanks for the comments. We had thought about popping into Foxwoods. Were heading off tomorrow, word is 3-6 inches of snow. Sigh. There was no real reason for Mystic, just felt like getting away to a BnB in a cosy little town.

I'm actually in Yardley PA, but didnt feel anyone knew where that was and Trenton is just 10 minutes away so thought that would be easier. It is a fair question.

That's the small town where I'm from!! Yes, Old Saybrook is charming from what I recall. Go to "Dock n Dine" at Saybrook Point for fish n chips. I can't wait to go back there and see it all again!

Hi Nutmegger,

I knew you'd chime in. I'm keeping notes for my trip, too, so thanks.

They're both shit tbh, but Foxwoods usually has better shows and deals going.
