All other anti-Ryanair stuff aside, Southwest sound fantastic in comparison. Are they?

My BIL flies to various wrestling and softball tournaments regularly and swears by Southwest. I think they are more on a par with Easyjet, in fact I recall Easyjet modeled themselves on Southwest.

I use Ryan Air at least once a month to visit my parents or my sister & family in Cork. I guess I'm just lucky as in 16 years of going backwards and forwards between Liverpool & Ireland, I've only had 1 problem.
I looked at the 'business class' option for next week's trip - almost double the price and the only extra would be free hold luggage (not needed) so paying £29.99 each way including premium selected seats & priority boarding
