You can waste several hours readiing damninteresting.com. It's full of historical and quirky stories.

If anyone has similar time wasting sites, let me know.

This is actually a very good site, I read one of his recent articles slating journalists for not clearly reporting a study re: early detection of prostate cancer.

One of my bugbears is the lack of evidence based medicine (I used to be a nurse before I had kids) both here and in the UK.
From personal experience I've found that much of Obstetric medicine is based on something other than research, usually the preference of the doctor, or the convenience of the hospital.....but that's a whole nuther story
