Thought I was coming down with flu..

Thought I was coming down with flu..
The other morning, mid morning after breakfast, I started feeling a little sensitive, shaky...over the space of an hour or so it got worse, I felt frozen but broke out in a sweat.
And very unusually for me, iron stomach and all that, I started feeling queasy...the symptoms got rapidly worse and I made it to the throne just in time. Projectile-like...
I thought, bum, must be the flu coming on...then I began to feel much, much better....but no, not food or alcohol related.
Only then did it click...I usually have one small cup but on that morning, after Hogmanay, I had indulged in three large mugs of Mrs Hotscot's extra strength java..and yes...a caffeine overdose
(Which was weird as through university I drank it by the gallon, in my later life it's generally tea though.)

Thanks for that...
I usually drink decaf because I do notice an irregular heartbeat otherwise (with caffeine and lumbersexuals).

Very sad to admit to this but if I don't drink caffeine in the morning I feel sick by lunchtime. As in shaky, lightheaded and nauseated.

I'm down to one cup a day now but I'm going to wean myself off that over the next few weeks before we try and get pregnant.

Oh you've reminded me, as soon as I got pregnant I couldn't touch the stuff. That must say something about it.

Yep, same here with my first pregnancy, but that wasn't planned and to suddenly stop drinking coffee cold turkey was awful, the caffeine withdrawal was hideous!

Caffeine has never bothered me for the most part, now coffee does...Yuck. I like the smell so I brew a pot sometimes for that purpose, and if I do drink it, only certain brands and lots of cream, probably 50% cream which defeats the purpose of drinking coffee...Plus it irritates my stomach to no end, 1/2 cup of coffee can ruin my entire day.

Coffee is some evil shit. I've never drunk it but for one time.
I was working a night shift and was tired and someone told me to have a cup. So i did. And then I had another. And another and another. Generic no name coffee that we gave to patients. Apparently it wasn't "good" coffee Spent the rest of the night on a giddy high, came home, dropped kids off at school. Then came the come down. Couldn't sleep a wink. Got palpitations when lying down. Got irritable listening to neighbors and out door noise. Wanted to go out and knock their blocks off. 3pm came and I hadn't slept a wink. Ended up being awake for about 32 hours straight.
This ended my messing with coffee.
Anyone ever asks me to go to Starbucks and I flatly refuse.

I can't really function without my one mug of capucchino or strong coffee in the morning, maybe 2. It doesn't bother me, but I maybe take it early enough that any side effects have worn off before bedtime. When visiting DD, SIL and his family in Italy, I always have a strong espresso after dinner, and that never gives me any sleep deprivation either.

I had been largely a Monday-to-Friday coffee drinker. After discovering that my mind-crushing headaches on Sunday afternoons were caused by 36 hours of caffeine-free weekend, I decided that caffeine probably wasn't doing me any good. First I started drinking one coffee on Saturday and Sunday mornings to make the headaches go away, and cutting back to one coffee a day, then every other day, then a couple of times a week. After a couple of relapses, it took me about four years to become caffeine-free.
Weaned off caffeine, but ironically never off milk.
