For those who download Brit TV a lot
I've taken the plunge and had my wife order one of these for my birthday
It can play pretty much any file you like, inc HD .mkv files. The final motivating factor was seeing Top Gear this season will be available in 720p for the first time.
It also has networking capability, and with an optional USB dongle, is wireless.
All that capability for $120 looks like a bargain. Anyone tried it? I'm really excited to get my hands on it

Looks nice.
I was looking at the Mvix Ultra for the 1080p and all the guff it can do like a built in torrent client, but touch pricey.
Need to add a wireless dongle though on top which is cheeky...

I actually like the DVD approach.....burn a few shows to DVD+RW in about 3 minutes....play back on $40 DVD players, no network issues to crop up just when you don't want them and spoil your viewing experience.

too much hassle with player not playing newer codecs all that well, or sync issues with the sound on the things....rewrite discs are rubbish too...

Rewriteable disks are the perfect medium for such shows, perhaps the ones you used were low quality. I buy Verbatim 8x speed ones for under $1 each and they are superb.

I just link my PC to my TV via a HDMI lead.
Then set your TV to be your PC's 2nd monitor.
Drag anything you are playing onto your TV, mazimize it to full screen and it's job-done.
Why make life more complicated than it needs to be?
