Re: Is there such a thing as a household tip?
I live in Calfornia and use Waste Management for trash pickup. We are allowed to call them once a year for a free pickup of up to 8 cubic yards of trash. In my area they do have some restrictions on what they will pick up and will not pick up construction materials. Check with you local service to determine if they have such pickups and what can be picked up.
If you don't have that service in your area, you will have to bring it to the local dump yourself. Call them to find out where your local dump is located. |

We've cut down a huge wooden pergola thing in the garden covered in a 6 foot bush. At the rate we are filling the trash cans it will take us around 6 months to get rid of it all.
In the UK I would have done a few car runs to the tip, what do we do with it here? Now, they'll charge you to take it. And then when you want the compost they've made out of it, they'll charge you again. But, it keeps it out of the landfill, which is a good thing (methane). Your city gov't website should have info on it, or look in the yellow pages for compost/recycling. We get curbside pickup of small yard debris, but branches that are more than 3" diameter have to be bundled & tied outside the can.. this will be individual to each town of course. |

Get up before dawn on trash day and make it look like all of your neighbors have torn down their pergolas as well.
