Last time we discussed this I was the only one who liked it. Personally I loved seeing Jeremy Irons ham it up and the other characters like Machiavelli, Savonarola and the foppish Neapolitan prince brought the series alive for me. It's no 'Game of Thrones' but it's worth investing time in. If you thought the first episode had potential then I would stick with it as it took a while to get going and the later episodes were better.

Like The Tudors that drove me crazy on the lack of historical accuracy, it's about bringing the past onto the screen which is neat.

A quick reply to my own question, I watched the first episode of 'The Borgias" and the first two of "Borgia"

The Borgias is more concerned with the characters in the family, it seems to be a smaller more claustrophobic world. Borgia is out looking at the politics of the world as then known, it seems more contextual. However, it also suffers from some terrible heavy dialogue. And John Doman as Papa Borgia, with an American accent, in that time period, just seems odd.

ZOMBIE ARMY.........and now I have to wait until April 7th 2013!!!........I may have to resort to the books.

Keep an eye out for the remake of I Claudius on HBO/BBC (original was brilliant but seriously dated now). Also 'World Without End' which should be coming this fall.

The Showtime one is focused on the Borgia family but it becomes much more about about the politics & intrigue of the Italian States.

I'm loving I, Claudius, it's like a wonderful stage production rather than the choppy close-ups you get now.

Longmire, new sheriff drama by A&E

It's pretty cheesy, little slow, but kind of amusing I thought. Dry stuff though.

The sheriff has had something happen a year ago, they don't go into it much, but you get an impression from things. One of his deputies is putting a run for sheriff while another is a ex-cop from Philly, so is at odds with being in the middle of nowhere.

Did anyone catch Hatfields and McCoys? It was showing on the History Channel...feuding between two families in the 1880's.

Ahh Derek Jacobi at his best. My dad let me stay up and watch it when this first aired, my mum shouted at him that I was too young, so of course he countered with "Sarah cover your eyes!" every 15 minutes. He thought it was of historical importance that I see it or something. But then again my dad also made me and my brother watch Kurosawa films when we were children so I'm thinking he's a bit eccentric.

The interesting thing is that so much is left to the imagination. I thought I had actually seen Caligula cut out the baby and eat it, in fact he only brandishes a knife and then comes out of the room with blood on his mouth and says, "Don't go in there."

It was good...definitely need the DVR to do slow mo when it ends though because they give info on what the various characters got up to afterwards, but it scrolls so fast that you miss most of the info other wise.

I quite enjoyed it...probably because there are not many programs/films set in that era nowadays. Yes it was interesting to read the info at the end...and yes I did have to pause it.

Another Canadian drama, medical one based in Toronto, again.

Basically a cross between Grey's Anatomy meets Medium, I think.

Doctor gets involved in a car crash on way to wedding, ends up in coma and then wonders around the corridors of the hospital as a spirit type thingy, seeing other patients as they either die or go through resuscitation type ordeals.

It's a little slow, the missus wasn't such a fan, but I'm willing to give it another episode or two to see how it pans out a bit...

Although it's filmed in Toronto it's supposed to be set in Seattle.
