Re: teenagers....
Awww...
For years, I've been tossing out the 'when the kids leave home' line in the sense of 'party, party, PARTY!' But it struck me very recently that we're not that far off that stage; we're closing on a house in a week or so, and it hit me that it's likely the very last house our 15 yr old will share with as as his full-time home. And I'm suddenly sad about it... he's just got to a really amusing age, where he's equal adult conversational company, and savagely, bitingly funny.
Luckily it sounds like he'll turn into a monster in a year or so, and I'll be glad to see the back of him at 18

They can be bloody horrible sometimes can't they? One of the reasons I've let him sleep all summer is at least if he's sleeping we're not arguing.
Yesterday dad got a new car. We asked if he would like to come with us to collect it, his response 'Will you take me for a lobster roll?', we had the cheek to say No so he didn't come and added 'It's the only thing I wanted to do all summer' - really???? 12 weeks vacation and all you wanted was to go and get a lobster roll???

We have a couple of favourite outdoor seafood cafes we go to that look a bit like this one, where you dine at big picnic tables under a canopy, and the fish is fresh and tasty.... But I haven't seen this one. If it's not too expensive (a few are), we'll have to try it.

Re: teenagers....
I am dumfounded - yesterday I gave him a shout at 6.10am and he got up without a complaint, showered, ate breakfast and drove to school.
This morning he got up BY HIMSELF at 6.10am, I was just coming out of my room to shout and he was already up and heading for the shower.
Could this be The Twilight Zone?

Re: teenagers....
But the best lobster roll version (IMHO) is the one ChoclateBabz's son got, i.e. the only-melted-butter-salt-pepper version with the nice big chunks of lobster in full view on the split roll, not hidden under mayo & celery or anything else...just lobster and melted butter.

Re: teenagers....
First week of school and teenager twists his ankle playing basketball.
Nasty purple and blue, cannot put any weight on it.
So off today, resumes school tomorrow with a pair of crutches.
He's pretty impressed, he gets a key to the lift. Plus, bonus he gets a freshman to carry his backpack and violin.
He won't be so happy when his physical therapy starts tomorrow evening.
