No its not almost over. It was 110 degrees last week when the a/c stopped working in the minivan Tomato plants are brown and crispy. No autumn here, just summer and winter. So no pretty autumn colours, but then no pine needles to rake up and no gutters to clean out

Our nightly temperatures go down to the low 60s too, then the days go up to mid-70s through mid-80s. But the 'summer tourists' that jam our streets are still here in force, and our (small) local museum just started its "summer hours" today....

Confusing!
Stores start bringing in fall and winter stuff end of July to early August and clear out the summer stuff, and some start to set up their Halloween stuff before September even arrives, the local Shoppers for example has cleared out most of summer, and has even put out some Halloween candy. Good time to stock on BBQ's, Fans, outdoor furniture and the like, its all on sale and on clearance.

The peaks last year got first snow right after Labor Day but they are really tall and have some snow year round on them, but usually first new snow is early to mid-September.

Locally most attractions are open year round, summer hours usually end Labor Day weekend.

Right now, early-ish in the morning, it's 67F and drizzling, so I guess it feels like autumn could be coming on....

We have guests arriving for the weekend (from Canada, Quebec area) and another set coming next weekend. We were hoping to pack them all off to the beach, but the weather's not cooperating lately with beach plans. What a strange summer!

According to the first weather chart below ... September is the hot one for us in the east bay! But the second one, comparing WC to Mt. View, suggests otherwise ...

I'm loving it personally. It's too hot during the day but lovely at night - sitting outside watching the sunset is a delight.
