Just been to Goodwill with a load of stuff. Now I need to buy new stuff to fill the hole in my closet the original stuff was in.

Did you at least get a receipt so you can write the donation off of next year's taxes?

You don't even need a receipt, you can just write it down. That's what it says on the tax forms. Not sure what happens if they audit you though.

Yes, SWMBO would inflict excruciating pain on my person if I came back without a receipt.

You could probably get some stuff from Goodwill.

That's cute.

Speaking of weird things (which we weren't), The NY Times had an article earlier this year about Rick Santorum in which we were told we could Google the word Santorum if we wanted to. Have you ever done that? It's totally gross in a fraternity house style of humor, so be warned.

Cannot abide the guy, but imagine having your family name connected to such a visual.

Bung it all on itsdeductible.com and then you can print it out at the end of the year, with values and everything. Not sure whether its totally IRS approved, but at least it shows willing in the keeping records department, and thats got to countfor something, no?

My wife's a contractor, and when she's "resting" between contracts she always gets the urge to declutter. Big time. If it aint bolted to the floor or nailed to the wall, its fair game. Its not pretty - the kids start barricading themselves in their bedrooms to delay her while they are hiding all their favorite toys. Even the dog gets possessive over her toys and bones.
Mind you, this time she's been craigslisting some of the stuff instead of freecycling/taking to goodwill - made a small fortune from crap this week - its amazing what people will pay for, and without haggling too!

Fortunately she starts a new contract next week, so if we can just get her thru the weekend we should be "safe" for another few months...
