I love it, and I love the fact it's moved earlier in the year (and the fall-back has moved later, too - though not by as much). If that's thanks to Bush then I'll reluctantly say 'finally one good thing to remember him by'.

I'm "not a morning person" so it's almost always light when I get up all year round so I don't care about the fact it's darker in the mornings. But being a late guy, usually working till around 8pm, I love the fact it's still light when I leave work and drive home.

I'd vote for a complete switch to 'summertime'.

? How do you get longer daylight hours just by changing the clocks?

I do wish they were not changed during the winter months though - seems a pointless exercise. It's still dark when I leave for work and when I get home in the middle of winter so why would it make any difference.

I knew someone would point that out...it's just a saying...surely you've heard it before? When it's light later in the evenings IMO it makes the days seem longer.

Actually I always assumed it was only used by complete numpties, but you disproved that so now maybe it won't bother me so much.

It was started back when it made sense, when they didn't have the artificial light we have now. I don't mind whether we have EST or EDT all year, but pick one and stick with it.

They tried this early start, late finish back during the OPEC energy shortages, and they got beaten back because of the children walking to or coming home from school in the dark.

The clocks don't change until 29th March in the UK so a bit longer in the dark for us

Damn old man, we actually agree on something.

Set it and forget it. Like Indiana was for years (except with the other states changing twice a year it was a bigger Pain in the A$$ than if we had changed).

can someone remind me when they change the clocks in the UK?

This period when US and UK are not in sync on daylight savings/summer always confuses me
