South Street Heliport - NYC - Unusual Visitor
So, I was sitting enjoying the scenery, when a rather large visitor dropped out of the sky.
It was a US navy CH-53 Super-Stallion Helicopter. The noise from it was unbelivable!.

Beautiful piece of kit!
I see no end of black hawks and Marine 1 and 2 and Air Force one at the moment.
Plus the unmistakable sound of Fighter Jets roaring around out of sight!
Oh, and the complete lack of planes flying their normal flight paths!
You can guess who's in town

AFAIK Obama is in Chicago this w/e.....don't know where Biden is?
However I was in NYC today (and at South St Seaport at lunchtime but missed seeing that helicopter) but there was an air show today at Jones Beach and it's also Fleet Week: there are loads of handsome young sailors in town.....

AFAIK Obama is in Chicago this w/e.....don't know where Biden is?
However I was in NYC today (and at South St Seaport at lunchtime but missed seeing that helicopter) but there was an air show today at Jones Beach and it's also Fleet Week: there are loads of handsome young sailors in town.....

It's actually quiet as we live near (Not directly under) the regular flight paths, but it seems all flights have been diverted around the main bulk of the city. Normally we have a plane every 30 seconds from 5 AM onwards, occasionally quite loud but it's been eerily quiet over the weekend!

We saw one of these flying down the Hudson on Saturday. It flew over our house a couple of hours ago.

Hey JG - I don't know if you heard the local NY news today, but that aircraft which flew over your house was involved in an incident this morning at Staten Island.
10 people were injured as the propeller blades caused branches from trees to snap and fall on them. There is a report and video here:
