I think 'they' should wait a few years, see what he does after his football career is over. If he's still a great ambassador for Football and charities, then I think it would be OK and he would have earned it.

Why? Do you honestly think that a world class player would, for example head butt another player in his last match of his life, which just happened to be the World Cup championship...thus ensuring a loss, and eternal shame to him? Nahhhh!!!

<moving swifty past sense of humour failure> Maybe he should be. 'Twas one of the finest headbutts ever - no way Beckham could have matched that.

Of course he'll get one. She's given so many away that she's run out of ideas and is down to the dregs. His son will get one next week and in 5 years you'll get them free with corn flakes.

Really who gives a f**k?

It wasn't that tough to understand... the thread alluded to knighting a famous football player, Beckham, whist another of the best players in the world- after a phenominal career disgraces himself in front of 2,000,000,000 spectatators around the world. Sir Zindane might not be appropiate if the situation were reversed, I guess was the point.

I thought maybe you were from Oz, but see that you are stuck in Southpark CO...maybe that explains it. A Columbine grad perhaps?

In my humble opinion (I don't want to get grilled!) Becks is too young and has done too little to deserve the title.

Zizou is one of the best footballers of all times (the best if you ask me), he was always a joy to watch he played with such skill, accuracy and elegance. He was given every major award that a player can achieve.. It is hardly fair to remember him by his last match

Hmmm, no it's just not clicking into place. Guess I've spent too much time mooching in cow crud, drinking moonshine, chewing bacca and the like.

I don't quite see what Zidane has to do with it? He's not elligible for it, so why bring him up? All I meant was, if Beckham is still promoting football and is as prominent and influential when he's retired as he is now, it would seem more appropriate.
