Arrive at the office, make tea.
Check personal e-mail. Return personal e-mail. Sip tea.
Read BBC Frontpage for a bit.

Read BBC Manchester for a bit.
Make more tea.
Log onto system.
Chat up whichever temp I happened to be nailing at the time for a bit.
Drink more tea.
Shuffle a few forms about when the manager wandered by.
Look busy for a bit.
Assess a few applications.
Have lunch.
More tea.
Read BBC sites again for breaking news.
Assess a few more apps.
Finish at four and head to the nearest pub.

Days were long and hard I can tell ya!
Holy crap SS! It's amazing that you come home in one piece with a schedule like that.:P It's just as hard as mine I can tell you that...

Sit down clear email(s) and voice mail(s)
Check Yahoo News (tech, odd news, us, election)
Check Gizmodo
Check BE (refresh, refresh, refresh, post, refresh)
Go snag some brekkie from the nearby McDonalds or cafe
Come back and check for new email and voicemail
Check BE (refresh, refresh, refresh, post, refresh)
Handle a few calls
Troubleshoot here or there
Install crap here or there
Unpack some new PC's and set them up
Ooooh....lunch time
Come back and check for new email and voicemail
Check BE (refresh, refresh, refresh, post, refresh)
Follow through with email and voicemail
Troubleshoot here and there
Fix things here or there
Check Yahoo news.....chat...chat...chat...
Take a non-smoker break when it's warm outside
Come back and check email and voicemail
Wahoo! Leave work around 5 for dinner and an ice cold brewski.

Whew!

I always wanted a job with the Council as I guessed all they did was just sit around and do nothing....now you've just confirmed it....

I was one of those poor buggers that had to be at the Bus Stop by 7:30 am to get the bus into Manchester and walk for 30 mins to my office building...

I seriously do not miss those days....especially when it was dark when I went to work and dark when I left (usually about 6 ish), I felt like a bleedin Vampire....

Council jobs are gggreat!!! Loads of benefits too. Good pay scales. Lots of scope for advancement flexi-time with up to thirteen extra paid days off a year for very little effort. If you are young and single there are no end of shag opportunities with the almost nightly after work birthday drinks, anniversary drinks, wedding drinks, new job drinks, new jumper drinks and plain old drinks after work drinks. And lots of tea!!!
