Default Round trip ticket

My husband's interview (CR1) is in September. We are thinking of buying his plane ticket to the US for a couple weeks after the interview date. Prices are already so high...

But I've noticed that prices are cheaper for round trip tickets rather than one way. We were thinking of just buying a cheaper round trip ticket for when he finally gets here.

Do you think this would create a problem at the POE for him to have a return ticket? Not that he'd obviously have to show it to them or if they could even know he was in possession of one. Wouldn't want them to see the visa stamp in his passport but then wonder why he's got a (albeit "fake") return ticket.

No, it will not be a problem at the POE. People do it all the time. He can book the return flight far out into the future, perhaps he can eventually even use it to visit back home.

We did this; our "return flight" is in October and we came over in December. It was as far in the future as I could get it for the lowest price I could find. We're not going to use it - not only would we still need to buy another ticket to get home again, but for various reasons we had to fly into an airport that is an 8 hour car trip away from here.

Hi

I've booked a return as well, my flight out being 3rd September and the return being 7th July next year - as far in the future as I could get! I don't know if I'll be using it yet, but I'll have the option at least. Single tickets really are very expensive compared with a return!!!
