Would love to see them down here in GA - although the Blue Angels would give them a run for their money.

I saw online that it will be January, but not sure the accuracy of that.

Anyone know what the Red Arrows schedule is in North America, if anything? I read they may be in Huntington Beach CA in October 2019. We love the Red Arrows!! Saw them in Jersey, channel islands many years ago. Everybody was looking out to sea for them. They came in silently from behind and roared overhead. Brilliant display.

They seem to be pretty much unheard of over here, so it will be good to see them come over and show the Yanks what a proper display team looks like. Just wish they were flying a little closer to me.

I knew this coming. Dinky little Hawk T1s...

Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, Snowbirds and the Red Arrows.

Some other display teams I remember from growing up. The Red Devils parachute team. And the White Helmets motorcycle team.
Would love one of their old bikes.

Saw the Blue Angels for the first time last year, and felt slightly disappointed. The Thunderbirds are good. The most impressive single plane I have seen at the local airshow is the F-22 Raptor fighter jet. The Raptor deserves the much-overused term, Awesome.

When I first starting working MANY years ago I was in an office overlooking Brighton seafront. The Red Arrows did an annual display and they literally came straight towards me low over the sea then went up over the town. It was scary and amazingly impressive. They later stopped those displays as being too dangerous. I believe that decision was linked to an incident in May 1980 when a Hawk hit a yacht mast (that's how low they went!). The pilot, Sqn Ldr Steve Johnson, ejected safely.

True story. Lived in Smyrna, Georgia, right behind Dobbins AFB. Was rolling down Highway 41 (Cobb Parkway) when I saw a crowd of cars and people off to the side of the road. They were against the fence of Dobbins.
Being nosy, I pulled over to see what was going on. It was the maiden flight of the F-22 Raptor. Two T-38 chase planes took off and circled round. The flew either side of the Raptor as it roared down the runway and took off, seemingly straight up. Quite the sight. Honest to God this happened, this sheriff's deputy turns his head, spits some dip, and says, nodding, "Yep, that's the sound of freedom".

We did an airshow one time where they brought in a Raptor. We were camped on the Ramp and made a midnight excursion to go and see the plane. The plane was cordoned off and two Air Force guards with M4s were guarding the plane.
The rear cones were covered with a special cover. We got pictures right up against the rope. Next morning, we watched it spool up. It was rather impressive.

The Oregon airshow is normally in my backyard. Unfortunately runway repaving means the red arrows will be 40 minutes away.

Blue Diamonds

United Kingdom
https://www.aerobaticteams.net/UserF...pg?cache&w=110In 1961 No. 92 Sqn, the Blue Diamonds, (initially named 'The Falcons'), became the official aerobatic team of Royal Air Force. Under the leadership of Sqn Ldr RWP Brian Mercer, an ex-Black Arrows pilot, they flew 16 blue-painted Hawker Hunter F6 aircraft. During their display, Blue Diamonds splits into two formations of 7 and 9 aircraft and to four formations of four planes also. The team used the four fours spilt first at Furstenfeldbruck Air Base near Munich in September 1961.The team performed the 16-ship roll and a loop, which began with four split sections of four Hunters and joined up in one large diamond at the top of the loop, while inverted. Another unique maneuver performed by The Blue Diamonds display team was seven-ship line abreast loop, which has not done by any other aerobatic team. The team was formed in 1960 and exists until 1962.

Thanks to Brian Mercer

I spent my RAF National Service on the same base as 92 Squadron. RAF Leconfield in East Yorks. Never got tied of watching them.
Later 92 Sqdns Hunters were replaced by Lightnings, and the aerobatic team dispanded.

I did my HGV training up at RAF Leconfield back in 2004. Not sure when it changed, but it's now the largest driver training establishment in Europe. I was there for a couple of months, really enjoyed being up there despite the 3 hour drive back to my hometown of Milton Keynes on weekends.

Back to the actual topic though, would've loved to see them in Dayton on September 5th as it's only a few hours from me. Just a shame it's midweek!

I assume they are avoiding most of the Deep South/Florida because they are wary of some nutter with a rocket launcher shooting them down? :(

I did wonder the reason why.
I assume I can put my SAMs away then.
