We had snow last week but most of it has melted. I was gone for the day down to warmer zones and when I came back last night it was an icy snowy mess.
So one thing I need to do is put the studded snow tyres on the Miata and i need to get some half decent tyres on the truck, they have seen better days.
Its coming!

Yes, ice on the pond this morning, and snow making has started at the resorts.
I have most things done but have not yet blown out the irrigation and still have summer tires to change.

I wonder if that is actually needed with modern plastic materials. Last of my local summer visitors left yesterday, they have their house set to drain with turning one tap back into the well. I keep an eye on it over winter.

I learned my lesson a few years ago, didn't blow out the irrigation and one of the control valves cracked.

We are having an unusually warm fall so far. The peaks still have not received any snow. The mountain that overlooks town is 8700 feet and usually has a nice snow cover by now but so far its not getting snow.
The ski resort 45 mins north is still bare as well. At the 6000 foot level this morning its 3C and rainy. There should be snow by now. Will be curious if they can open on time Nov 26. Not even cold enough yet to make snow.
Between the blob and El Nino we may not have a winter.

Having lived in Arizona for last 4 winters, this will be our first proper US one, here in mid-Ohio. We're not quite sure what to expect, but we lived in Switzerland before AZ so aren't entirely unused to winter weather.
I have, though, wimped out this year and arranged for the landscaper to carry on into the winter season with his snow removal gig. Hubby's traveling a ton for work at the moment - everyone wants to meet 'the new guy', it seems - and we don't quite know what level of snow to expect, or the impact it'll have on daily life. So I figured I'd buy peace of mind for this year, and then see how it goes after that.

Frost Monday morning last week, but most of the overnight lows since then have been in the upper 40's or higher. It was cool yesterday, but remarkably warm and humid today. Winter here is still very much on hold.

First and second years here we did the blow out on the front irrigation, but could never find the pipe in the rear yard to do it. After that stopped doing the front as the rear hadn't been a problem and all has been well so far.

I have a timberjack and several hundred cords I can access.

I did have to keep my jacket on during my commute to work today.
We're back up 80 on Friday though.

Early next week they call for 34-38 overnight a few times, but clear so no precip, but days are still supposed to be high 50's.

I thought I was 'wimping out' by getting a snow plough service rather than buying a snow blower and doing it myself. One of the best things I did - no way would I want to be up early to clear the snow so I could get to work. I now love the sound of the plough arriving
